 Welcome Letter

Dear

Happy September to the Healing Touch Community! It is hard to believe that we are approaching fall and that the holiday season will be here soon!

We are ending the summer with our End of Summer Sale - that has been a huge success! We had a lot of fun putting the offers together and I hope you've enjoyed our surprise specials. Thank you all for your support and purchases that help us to fund spreading our message about the awesome work we do in Healing Touch. We have one more week of specials that will be announced on September 8th.

The other project that we started this summer was the Energy Bundle for Health, Wellness and Healing. This is a digital package we put together with the support of several Healing Touch Instructors and friends to thank our community for their support and to also help us support our endeavors to spread Healing Touch. This bundle will only be available until September 15, so if you want one and haven't gotten it already, you'd better do it soon so you don't miss the chance. See below for more details.

We are gearing up to travel to Albany NY to host the 6th Annual Eastern Regional conference. The conference, October 16-17, 2015, will feature two Keynote speakers this year Cindy Palajac HTCI and a specialist on Sacred Heart and Journeys and Barbara Evans award winning author and transformational healing artist. This will be our only conference this year so I hope you can join us as we come together in community to experience and explore "SPIRIT-FILLED HEALERS JOURNEYING TOGETHER."

Other items in this issue of Community News include Bringing Healing Touch to Jerusalem, by Rev. Dr. Constance Hammond HTCP/I, who traveled to Jerusalem this past spring. Constance tells her experience as she taught Healing Touch Level 1 to 15 new students.

We have also received a great letter from a HT student in Quebec that shares her experience with HT treatments with her sister. We hope that
sharing healing experiences  will become a regular part of our Community Newsletter.

We are gearing-up for the upcoming Mentor Training class Session 2. In 2016 all mentors for Healing Touch will be required to have taken the HTP Mentor Training course. This course was created as a way to support HTP mentors and keep them up-to-date with current information and requirements for the one year mentorship between Level 4 and 5, as well as keeping them updated on the current certification requirements. This course also introduces tools and knowledge to teach mentors how to motivate, encourage, advise, coach, listen, tutor, and guide mentees to successful completion of their HTCP certification, and gives mentors support and tools to help launch a successful mentorship practice if desired. If you are a mentor and need to take this course you can get more details go to Mentor Training Course Overview.

Lastly, I have a teaser.... Healing Touch Program is working together with the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) to bring you an awesome opportunity to take an online course in The Science of Energy Healing. This course will bringing together the world's leaders in science and research on energy healing methods so that participants can deeply understand the science that supports their work. Look for more details to come soon!

Lisa G Thank you for being part of this phenomenal and important work~ Healing Touch!

HTPA - Director Letter
The View from my row in the HTPA garden-
By Dawn Warnaca, HTCP/I
Acting Executive Director

Mike, my husband, and I went shopping for fruit trees recently. Mid August, and during one of the hottest, driest summers I can remember. The nursery showed signs of the aging season, yet the hearty woman that helped us simply accepted the weather as a passing small issue of reality, and brought our attention to what truly was available right now, and how to tackle the small details - like planting, pollination, and she did not hesitate to tell Mike just how each pot needed to be loaded and stored for travel.

Opinionated, I thought at first, and then appreciated her attention to the 'highest good' for each tree.  We planned to hoist the trees up into the back of the truck, let them whip around above the cab, and honestly expected no consequences. Have you ever heard the term desiccation? We learned that afternoon at the garden nursery that being whipped around by the wind can damage leaves which might not show for days, weeks, or even months. It is quite possible the damage could be minimal, yet it could also prove fatal. At her insistence, each tree was laid down on the bed of the truck, gently roping together the branches to further protect the leaves, and we were instructed quite pointedly to drive no more than 35 miles per hour as we transported these young trees to their new home destination.

I later looked up the term: desiccation, and found it to mean, in the most simplest of terms - damage from the removal of moisture - and it has a number of positive affects, as well as negative.

For example, in dehydrating - desiccation is positive. I couldn't help but wonder... can events around us cause this kind of experience energetically? Where someone may just dry up for a time because of the buffeting wind, or just how fast they have traveled from one destination to another?

I was not at all surprised when during my next visit to pick up ordered plants; I learned that the opinionated woman was in fact the owner of garden nursery. It seems to me, she is in the right place and at the right time; teaching and insisting on the best possible treatment, in order to have the best possible outcomes - for a species that cannot speak for itself.  I was inspired to more carefully consider the life of these trees, because a stranger spoke for them.

STEPPING UP:
I was excited to see so many responses in the HTPA annual survey, folks willing to share their expertise. We have three new committees that have sprouted out of the support of our members.

1. HTPA now has a Chair for the Community Connection Support to the Military Committee, and two committee members.  THANK YOU - Chair - Susan Russell, Lynne O'Donnell and Janet Brown!  HTPA Community Connections in partnership with HTWF (Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation) has grant money available to HTP students and practitioners volunteering their service to members of our military.  Click here to learn more about Service to the Military .

If you would like to support the efforts of Community Connections Support to the Military: you can donate here:  HTPA Fund

2. We also now have three members of an Outreach Committee. This committee will be reaching out to HTPA members that have voiced a need for connection. Our hope is that with personal connection, and open communication, HTPA members in isolated areas, or unable to join in events will develop a sense of support and community right where they are.

3. The next developing committees are the Update Recommended Reading List Committee (URRL) and the Book Reflection Committee (BRC).These folks have offered to read and review current books as well as consider just how to go about updating the current Recommended Reading List.  Book reviews will be added to this Community Newsletter, (see below) as well as the HTPA quarterly newsletter.

I would also like to thank Renee Rolle-Whatley and Ramona Rolle-Berg for their support and commitment to the HTPA Live Interviews and Live Chats. Both these new HTCPs (congratulations, by the way!), have stepped up and are willing to not just attend these monthly events, but help by learning how these calls are done on the back end, and willing to participate in the discussions. Thank you!

The newest platform for Continuing Education is well underway at the HTPA/HTP office. With the help of our Lead Nurse Planner,Susan Erlewine, HTPA/HTP is now able to offer 1 CE for a number of the HTPA LIVE INTERVIEWS. Please check out the HTP store/Continuing Education Offerings to see which calls are currently available for CE's. Don't forget to use your HTPA Member coupon code  (HTPASAVE5) to get $5 off these CE certificates.

I am so thrilled that Sharon Robbin's vision of the growth, development and active participation in Healing Touch Professional Association is alive and well in our community. I thank each and every one of you for your help and support as we continue together to learn, connect, and protect the branches of our fruit trees!

Healing Touch in the Holy Land
Bringing Healing Touch to Jerusalem
By Rev. Dr. Constance Hammond HTCP/I

Constance Hammond Jerusalem 2015
Constance Hammond teaching
Healing Touch in Jerusalem
"For every time there is a season", and so it seems. After all the years of talking about Healing Touch in the Holy Land, of being invited to teach Healing Touch and then having the administration change at St. George's College, Jerusalem, and the class no longer being an option this past Spring it was as if the energy had shifted and now many places in the Holy Land want Healing Touch in their facilities and institutions.
This past Spring, I was invited to stay at St. George's College, Jerusalem, with the intent of offering introductory presentations to various hospitals, churches and other institutions.  However, when I arrived no arrangements had been made and the HT DVD I had sent ahead with friends, was lost by the college.  Not an auspicious beginning.  Friends from Portland, a retired doctor and his wife, were in Jerusalem where he was teaching medical students and she was volunteering with L'Arche in Bethlehem.  He made arrangements for me to meet with the Head Nurse in Oncology.  When we met, she and I talked and then she asked if I could meet with the Director of Nursing and Continuing Education.  Of course I said, "Yes"!  We went to the director's office.  After a few moments, she said "I do not want an introductory class (gasp from me) I want the whole class"!   Not being prepared to teach a class, I managed to pull together enough materials through the help of a Portland friend who was joining me and a group later in the month and the ever ready to be helpful HTP office staff!  The last week of my month in Israel/Palestine I taught a Healing Touch Level 1 Class to doctors and nurses at the Augusta Victoria Hospital situated at the top of the Mt. of Olives.

I have never taught Healing Touch to a more grateful, excited and joyful group of students than the ones at Augusta Victoria Hospital!  There were five Muslim men in the class, three women in Hijabs (traditional Muslim dress) and three Christians.  I didn't know the mix until after the class, but I did know that Muslim men and women do not touch-energetically or physically-and I had an odd number of men. It worked out as the men were mostly up to mixing with other than young traditionally dressed women and the female heads of departments were willing to work on the men. The students all kept saying things like "I never knew there was anything like this" and "My pain went away".  Each student (there were 15) had immediate specific responses to my question of how they would use the techniques in their area of work.  The problem was they were so excited that they kept talking-it's partly the culture-so I would ask them to go around the circle talking one by one, which almost worked!

Directors at the Princess Basma Centre for Disabled Children
Augusta Victoria Hospital, Princess Basma Centre for Disabled Children and a priest in Ramallah, who has a new clinic, a church and contacts with other facilities tin the region all want Healing Touch classes.  The Director of Nursing told me that everyone in the hospital was talking about the class the day after it ended.  They all want to take Healing Touch classes!  One thing to note-when we discussed what they do to take care of themselves and relax (remembering that they live under the Israeli Occupation and have limits placed on the time they are allowed out of the area they live and the places they may go) all of the women mentioned liking to shop. Knowing that none have incomes even beginning to match ours, I was surprised.  But they like to go to a mall and just look at the styles, forgetting for a moment their situation and maybe even buy some little thing.  I guess women all over the world share this desire-although for me, successful shopping means  getting out of the store as quickly as possible!

And so "Just doing the work", works, as my initial invitation into the Palestinian hospitals came from my doing HT on a child in intensive care some years ago.  Whatever the former Dean of St. George's College saw, was what began the process of getting classes into the Holy Land.  What a blessing and what a joy to share our work in an area so devoid of what we would call basic medical supplies, equipment and services with people so dedicated and receptive and full of enthusiasm and joy!

This successful class and community experience has blossomed into plans to return to the Holy Land next spring to provide more HTP classes, including Levels 1 through 3. Cynthia Hutchison, Healing Touch Program Education Director,  will be joining me and possibly a few other North American HTCP/I people depending on what the various institutions desire.   We will be donating our time and services for this most special and privileged endeavor and will be looking for ways to support our travel and non-personal expenses.
With heartfelt gratitude, Rev. Dr. Constance Hammond HTCP/I
Constance Hammond, HTCP/I lives in the Northwest and has been in Israel/Palestine more than a dozen times.  Her book, Shalom/Salaam/Peace, a Liberation Theology of Hope came out of her studies and experiences with the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.  She was recently in Israel/Palestine as a member of the Education Committee for the national Episcopal Church's Palestine Israel Network.  She spent additional time at St. George's College in the hopes of building interest in Healing Touch.  She has been teaching HT-1&2 in the Northwest and various parts of the U.S. for over 10 years.

Nepal Update - Wonderful Work Continues

The Healing Touch Community has made significant contributions to recovery from the April 25, 2015 earthquake. The Healing Touch Community in Nepal, led by Aparna Bhatta, HTCP/I, has provided HT and other relief services to many injured and displaced Nepalese. She and her students have worked in the hardest hit and most inaccessible regions, where medical assistance is minimal and major relief organizations and the Nepal government has had little impact. Fundraising through HTWF, generated $14,000 to support her efforts. The foundation contributed an additional $3000, bringing the total funds provided to Nepal Relief to $17,000!

HTWF fully supports her ongoing relief work and the introduction of HT into homes, medical facilities and schools. Continued support is needed, as recovery from a disaster of this magnitude takes time. HTWF will continue to collect and distribute funds to our HT family in Nepal. Thank you for your contributions.

Sharing letters we receive about Healing Touch

We wanted to share this letter we received from a Level 4 student of Healing Touch form Quebec,
Canada.

Impact of Healing Touch Treatments

My sister Violette died on March 15, 2015 at the age of 58 after a 10 month illness. I had the privilege of giving her Healing Touch  treatments at her home and at a distance.  She had mentioned that those treatments brough her serenity. During her final days, I was not physically present, but each time I thought of Violette, I practiced Ho'Oponopono  repeating : ''I love you Divinity, I am so sorry for Violette's suffering, Please forgive me, Thank you''.

On July 22, 2015, I met a medium and what a surprise it was! Violette, by the intermediary of the medium, told me that the Healing Touch treatments she had received were precious beyond any expectations and at the time she left her physical body, she recognized and followed the 'Energy of Serenity' which led her directly toward the Light. She said to be very grateful.

Is this not comforting? Hence, we never should hesitate to offer a Healing Touch Treatment. We do not know the full beneficial impact such treatments can have.

Pierrette Robitaille,
Healing Touch Pratitioner Apprentice
