 Welcome Letter

Dear First Name,

Welcome to the January 2015 issue of the Healing Touch Community News.

January is usually a time of looking forward, putting into place the beginnings of the plans made in the previous year, and striving to keep the commitments we have made to ourselves and others. This year is certainly no different for Healing Touch.

There is a solid energy of hard work and resolve in our office and community today, quite different from the usual mid winter quiet. The energy is one of preparation for a busy year filled with many opportunities to spread Healing Touch, to reach new people in new ways. There are talented people working on a variety of projects, each contributing in their own unique way, to move us forward in more directions than any of us could accomplish alone. This energy and activity is a good sign to me that we are on the right track for accomplishing great things.

The strength of this combined effort is the power of our community and we definitely have the ability to achieve a lot. Simple evidence of the ability of our community to produce results is contained in this newsletter. Here are a few examples...

Energy Magazine starts off its ninth year with a beautiful new website, as it continues its role as one of the most important sources for information in Energy Medicine.

Healing Touch Professional Association (HTPA), with the help of Dawn Warnaca and others coming together, continues to deliver the kind of community and professional support that its members have come to expect. Walle Adams-Gerdts will join Dawn on this month's HTPA call to give us tips on how to bring Healing Touch into a conservative environment without being considered a "kook"!

Rumi Hashimoto and Katrina Shibata have been hard at work bringing Healing Touch to Japan, and have sent us link showing some of their recent level 4 students and the students comments about the class!

Dr. Bonnie Morrow is producing a radio show "Transformational Healing on VoiceAmerica!"

The Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation is actively supporting Healing Touch with grants for research, outreach, and education and is always ready for volunteers to help them in their mission, including their upcoming Heel to Heal marathon in June.

There are listings for community gathering, workshops, and conferences in Plymouth, MN;  San Diego, CA; and Nanaimo, BC Canada.  Be sure to keep checking the HTP website and Community News as more events are scheduled and added all the time!

AHNA Logo  I'd especially like to mention the upcoming American Holistic Nurses Association conference in Branson, MO in June. AHNA was vital to the development of Healing Touch, encouraging Janet to take her courses to a larger audience and helping her to achieve that goal. Cynthia Hutchison will be presenting for Healing Touch Program this year at the AHNA conference, to show our support and gratitude for the strong ongoing relationship we share with AHNA and to help build better awareness and involvement between our two organizations.

Finally we always include the current schedule so that you can find the next Healing Touch Class or activity that may be in your plans.

My goal with this letter was a quick introduction, but as you can see even in a quiet month, there is always a lot going on in Healing Touch.

Please take a few minutes and see what is going on, and see if you are moved to participate in these activities. Or maybe it is time to honor the commitments you have made to yourself about goals you want to achieve in Healing Touch.

Our vision at Healing Touch Program is, "Inspiring and Empowering Humanity to achieve Holistic Health, Healing and Well Being." We ask you to see if this resonates with you, and join us in inspiring and empowering humanity, and always remember that our vision is to inspire and empower you as well!

Lisa G Thank you for being part of this phenomenal work!

HTPA - Community Connections
The View from my row in the HTPA garden
By Dawn Warnaca, HTCP/I

My garden spot is heaped high with compost, twigs and leaves slowly evolving - dissolving, into what a few months from now will be rich soil ready for planting. The chickens find this pile something of a challenge, and tackle it from the edges, taking off only small bits at a time. Yet, piece-by-piece they accomplish so much with their tiny feet, spreading wildly around what I have so carefully tried to contain. Spring lambs are arriving on the farm, funny that these vulnerable little creatures are born in the heart of winter. Cuddled down in the laundry room, on a heating pad that is well covered with newspaper padding, is a very scrawny little black and white 'bummer' lamb. Bummer - the term given to a lamb rejected by its mother. This is where I come in. I love bottle-feeding! Over the years, it has been a variety of animals, but lambs are special. Bottle feeding lambs is usually a six to eight week proposition, yet I often stretch it out over 10 or 12 weeks - just to keep the relationship.

HTPA is also into keeping relationships - keeping connections alive in our community. One way we are continuing the legacy of Sharon Robbins, is by continuing the global opportunity for professional growth through HTPA sponsored LET'S CHAT calls. Our topic this for January was - Winter Weather Wonderings - How do you Self Care in the winter? February LET'S CHAT will be about  - The beginning of Lent and spiritual practices.

These calls are intended to be casual conversation among peers.Anyone interested in Energy Work can join our calls and listen to a discussion around the Energy of Healing Touch. I invite you to join me on February 23, 2015 for our next chat call. These calls are on the last Monday of every month for these calls.

HTPA is also fostering relationships through our local chapters.  HTPA Chapters provide the vehicle for those who want to actively participate in the future and growth of Healing Touch on a local level. Please check out the Local HTPA chapters on our website and get in touch with the contact leads to see how you can participate. If you don't have a chapter in your area you can create one!

HTPA is also committed to helping its members keep a high Professional standard around their practice and education. On February 12th HTPA will sponsor an INTERVIEW with Walle Adams-Gerdts, HTCI, talking to her about "Tips on how to weave Healing Touch into a conservative and/or skeptical work environment - without being considered a 'kook'" Walle's enthusiasm for Healing Touch is palatable, please join us Register online here for this call. Interviews are held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. In case you missed our delightful INTERVIEW call, on January 8th with Ann Marie Chiasson, Author of Energy Healing: The Essentials of Self Care. The recording is posted on the HTPA web site under the Monthly Support Calls tab, scroll down the page to see the links to this and other past recordings.

Finally, a nod toward the 12th man - and the Seattle Seahawks football team. They are Superbowl bound and not without considerable struggle in this last playoff game. I had - wouldn't you know it -  twelve students in day two of a Level 1 class during that game. Twelve Seattle fans, learning the Heart to Heart Mediation and The Chakra Spread while the Seahawks played not 20 miles away. We were all committed to Healing Touch - and to loving our team no matter the outcome.... But it was fun to win!  Go Hawks!

Achieving the Goal of Certification
By  Barbara Starke, RN, MSN, FNP, HTCP/I, NADA Trainer
Chair of Healing Touch Certification Governing Committee (HTCGC)

Time and again people in our community say, "Healing Touch changed my life" (It certainly did mine).
How can we support you toward attaining your highest good?

Here are a few tips that may ease the stress and strain of "becoming" a HT practitioner, certified: Please use the techniques and principles of HT to help manifest this new role; this new individual you are hoping to become. Invite your energy field to form a clear and firm
intention about this goal.

Take this question to heart:

What would you like to have happen?
Write or visualize as clearly as you can what you want this journey to produce in you and around you. Create such a clear picture in your mind that you can actually "feel" an emotional charge attach to that intention. See or feel it daily-put reminders of this goal around your environment-your home, work place, car, etc. You want regular and frequent reminders of what you're creating....as if it has already occurred!

What do you need for that to happen?
This is where you're going to have to own responsibility for getting what you need, asking for what you need, from your Mentor, your family and friends...
Be very specific with  yourself, your Mentor and family/support persons. Get that big Calendar-at-a-Glance out and make marks on it-make the days work for you to accomplish what you need to "have happen". And how will you know when you're veering off course? Make a list of possible cues/hints that you'll take to heart and use to get back on track.

Accomplishing the goal of certification is a life message....not only an indication of your competence and professionalism in doing Healing Touch. It also attests to your capacity to re-pattern your energy field...to re-form and actually, re-wire, your brain from old beliefs about who and what you've been...into a new way of being in the world. I invite you to celebrate the journey! It has been developed to bring more Light into the world...and you are that Beacon of Light.
