 Welcome Letter

Dear  ,

Greetings to you as we embrace the summer months in the northern hemisphere! I have some exciting updates to share with you in this community newsletter.

Lisa, our HTP team and I are currently immersed in our re-accreditation with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). We were initially accredited in 2011 and still hold the accolade of being the only energy medicine (EM) continuing education program in the field of nursing to be nationally accredited! As of January this year, we also became the only EM program to hold a second national accreditation with the National Commission for Credentialing Agencies (NCCA). This second accreditation in the field of health care designates a professional credential to ALL our certified practitioners, whether they are licensed health care practitioners or not.
Linda Lewis and Cynthia Hutchison at the AHNA Conference
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with Linda Lewis RN, MSA, NEA-BC, FACHE, new Director of the ANCC. This is a photo of Linda and me last week at the AHNA convention, after she presented on ANCC's acclaimed Magnet Recognition Program.

As inferred above, I attended the annual convention of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) April 5th-8th in Portland, OR. I was joined by Lisa Mentgen Gordon (HTP CEO) and Sharon Robbins (Executive Director of the Healing Touch Professional Association). We had an impressive vending area where we displayed our curriculum notebooks (over 800 pages of content) and our 2013 published Healthcare Facility Manual titled Healing Touch Integrative Care Program
(375 pages), along with HT Program products produced through Sounds True Publishers and Healing Touch Program Press.
AHNA Conference - Marilee Tolen, Lisa Gordon, Barbie Dossey, Cynthia Hutchison, Sharon Robbins
As leaders of HTP, we met with AHNA leaders and enjoyed four days of  networking and connecting with friends and colleagues. AHNA leadership noted an impressively high participation of Healing Touch Program presenters and attendees, and initiated congratulating HTP on our national accreditation with ANCC, being that they truly appreciate what this credential represents in the world of health care. We would also like to add a huge THANK YOU to Dawn Warnaca and Liz Taylor for helping us represent HTP at the AHNA conference.

Lisa and I had fruitful discussions with renowned holistic nursing leader Barbie Dossey, as well as with early pioneers of AHNA and esteemed holistic nursing leaders who were close to Janet Mentgen.....Veda Andrus and Lynne Keegan. We also met with the past, present and future presidents of AHNA as well with Lourdes Lorenz, AHNA member of the board of directors and HTP Apprentice. We deepened our relationship and understanding with AHNA and look forward to a stronger alliance and working together

At the AHNA conference, I was delighted to offer a 90 minute practice workshop on a topic I am very passionate about...Body Prayer. Eighty-five holistic nurses attended this workshop, one of the most highly attended of the 54 workshop offerings! It was well received with many staying afterward to converse and learn more. If you are interested, you can view two You-Tubes that I created last year on body prayer on my website. I will also offer a body prayer workshop at our HTP Worldwide Conference on August 15th, 2014, in Chicago, IL.

With Gratitude and Love,

Cynthia Hutchison, Program Director, Healing Touch Program

Totebag Design - 2014 Healing Touch Worldwide Conference

Help us choose the design for the conference totebag! The totebag not only is handy at conference, holding folders, handouts and other papers, but is used throughout the year in a variety of practical ways. Some practitioners use it to transport items to the office, others take it to their yoga class, others use it as a grocery bag. The Healing Touch totebags are useful, get around and help spread the word.

Here are the designs to choose from:

HTPA Professional Development "Live" Interview

HTPA Professional Development "Live" Interview
Tuesday July 8, 2014 9pm Eastern

"Taking Your Practice to the Next Level"
with Linda Bark, PhD, RN, MCC, NC-BC,
CEO of Wisdom of the Whole Coaching Academy

As energy practitioners we are in a unique relationship with our clients and patients. We often quickly learn about their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual condition through our energetic assessments and intuition but we struggle with how to communicate what we've learned. Our challenge is not just how to share with our clients what we've learned about their condition but how to empower them to take charge of their health and improve the quality of their life and remaining years.

Like the rapid growth of the new field of Energy Medicine, Coaching is a growing new field in the health and wellness industry. It has been described as a process that unlocks a person's potential to maximize their own performance. This implies that the art of coaching produces an affect on both the person coaching and the person being coached. Linda Bark has more than 20 years of coaching experience in her private practice as well as 15 years of training coaches nationwide. She has created a holistic and integral approach to professional coaching that can address our communication challenges.

Linda's coaching model provides personal and professional growth while deepening communication that can transform practitioner/client relationship for greater success in accomplishing set goals. What Linda has developed applies to a wide range of practice areas and professions. For example, coaches trained at Wisdom of the Whole Coaching Academy (formerly known as Bark Coaching Institute) have applied their training to the fields of healthcare, consulting, leadership, education, equine therapy, and as an adjunct to therapy.

Linda's book "The Wisdom of the Whole: Coaching for Joy, Health, and Success" received recognition in 2012 as the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) book of the Year in the Professional Development and Issues category. This book offers multidimensional coaching tools for helping clients along their personal health journeys. AJN's review of Linda's book states that "If you are a professional who helps others to lead flourishing, happier lives, this book will help you become even more effective. If you are interested in learning about effective change for yourself, this book is also for you because of its fun and easy design, playful illustrations, and interactive exercises."

Not too long ago Linda announced that her school had an official change of name "to reflect the essence and power of our model and the reason our model works fast and brings authenticity to the coaching process." She said that their new logo combines the four structures of consciousness (archaic, intuitive, mythical, mental), and reflects the integral approach of the Wisdom of the Whole coaching model. She promises that more fun changes and additions are coming.

During our "live" interview with Linda she will lead us in an exercise to let us experience an aspect of her coaching model. She will also be available to answer any questions you might have. Even if this is the first you have heard about the practice of integral and holistic coaching, you will benefit from this discussion because you are sure to get inquiries about coaching from your clients and what you learn from Linda on this call will help you be empowered with information that can answer their queries.

Healing Touch Book Series
Facebook Heart

FACEBOOK LIKES needed to get Healing Touch young adult fantasy book published!

Your "LIKE" on facebook can help one of our instructors Linnie Thomas, HTCI, author of The Encyclopedia of Energy Medicine, get her next book series on Healing Touch published.

Linnie explains her motivation to write this book series: "I recently attended a performance where my granddaughter played Mrs. Beaver in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", a favorite children's tale of mine. That is until I watched a lovely young girl thrust a (pretend) sword into another person. I had not noticed how much violence occurs in that story. Now that I have become aware, I am finding most of my favorite young adult stories contain a lot of violence"

Linnie's new book series is about a girl who discovers she must lead her people against an invasion. However the rules where she lives state, no matter what the invaders do, she cannot use violence as a deterrent against the invaders.

The character uses real Healing Touch techniques at appropriate times with realistic results. The heroine does not expect or create Hollywood miracles with the HTP techniques. Instead she uses them to help with pain relief, the removal of energetic chemical residues (poisons) and stress management. At the back of the book is a reference to the HTP web site so readers can learn more about Healing Touch and a table of the chakras similar to the one in the Healing Touch Level 1 notebook. The book is the first of a nine book series. Books 2 through 8 cover each of the chakras. For example, book two is a story about both physical and emotional issues associated with the root chakra.

Linnie's book agent doesn't believe a young adult fantasy featuring non-violence and energy healing will be of interest to publishers. However, the book agent has agreed to present it to publishers if Linnie can gather at least 30,000 likes which proves interest in the market.

Here is how you can help make this book series on Healing Touch manifest! Please go to facebook.com/the.wasaru.stones and like the page. Ask your friends to like the page. Together we can prove non-violence is of interest to the public. Thank you for doing your part to be a part of this movement to get Healing Touch and energy theory introduced to our young readers.

Healing Touch Association of Canada 2015 Conference
HTAC CONFERENCE 2015 - NANAIMO, BC
Healing Touch Association of Canada
April 23-26, 2015
"Healing Together"

Great speakers, fun reunions of Healing Touch friends and a wonderful waterfront atmosphere.

Nanaimo is officially known as Harbour City for good reason. Stretched like a long, lean finger along the east coast of south-central Vancouver Island, British Columbia's sixth-largest city gets its identity, history and a wealth of recreation from a lovely, island-sheltered harbour right in the heart of town. Hiking, boating, kayaking, biking and world-class scuba diving and snorkeling are everyday activities at the bustling waterfront, as seaplanes take flight from sparkling blue waters.

Today, Nanaimo (population 84,228) is a fast-growing urban centre that is no longer merely the premier gateway to Vancouver Island. A boldly revitalized downtown core, delightful harbour front walkway, sparkling new museum, affordable art galleries, and a wealth of cool shopping and dining alternatives are good reasons to park the car, find accommodations and stay awhile.
