NEW RISK MANAGEMENT VIDEOS
The HT Professional Association (HTPA) continually works to bring additional benefits and services to its members and to all energy medicine practitioners. Energy Medicine Professionals Insurance (EMPI) is a professional organization created to provide practitioner resources, including liability insurance, to practitioners of Healing Touch as well as energy medicine modalities outside of Healing Touch. This month, HTPA and EMPI have teamed up to bring you a free video series designed to help all practitioners Master Risk Management. The titles of the videos in the Master Risk Management series are (1) The Importance of Informed Consent (2) Avoiding Sexual Misconduct and (3) Making Sense of Professional and General Liability Insurance.
The Healing Touch Program Ethics Committee was instrumental in helping develop portions of the materials in these comprehensive, user-friendly videos. We thank them for their expertise, enthusiasm and time!

Many of us know about helping and healing others... Are we good at helping and healing ourselves, especially our businesses? Most often the answer to that question is no! If this rings true for you, you won't want to miss our Interview with Camille. She has a personal story of exploring holistic healing for herself during a time when she was faced with serious health challenges. Her eventual success in overcoming her health issues led to her creation of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce and her current position as its Executive Director.
Camille believes that the three key components of life - personal and professional - are time, energy and money and that relationships are often interwoven with all three. She is going to share her top tips, tools and techniques for managing yours that can lead to your personal and professional growth and expansion!
In a recent conversation with Camille it was discovered that she also has a passion for educating holistic healers about the need to understand the reasons why it is appropriate that they not be required to have a license. It is to our benefit to know how to language the issue of certification vs licensure so that when faced with questions about this we can clearly explain why energy practice does not call for licensure and why it is false to think that if only we had a path to being licensed we would be taken more seriously.
During our Interview with Camille she will tell us about how she created The Holistic Chamber of Commerce (HCC) along with how she has made it such a huge growing success during tough financial times. Learning about The HCC which was created to be a bridge to new solutions for everyone who would like to learn more about complementary, integrative, holistic and eco-friendly options and solutions, will open all of us to a network of referrals, resources and support. To date there are approximately 50 local Chamber Chapters so it's likely there is an opportunity for you to meet and network with HCC members in your area.

Healing Touch Program is excited to support this new book that is being published by a division of Hay House written by Tammy Letherer, HTCP and illustrated by Catherine Hutchison, HTP!
This first book is part of a 3 book series which introduces children to energy principles through the topics of health, healing and happiness.
Tammy needs our community support to get this book published. HTP was happy to contribute funds as we are very interested in getting more healing and energy education to our young audience! This first book is a playful way for kids to let their fingers lead them to healthy food choices, while introducing a basic message of Universal energy. This 12-page children's book is written and fully illustrated and ready to enter the world! It's the first book in a series designed to educate kids on how they can take charge of their health and happiness. Kids enter the world with wonderful sensitivities, but over time can lose their ability to trust their choices. By tuning into the energy around them and in their food, kids are empowered to feel their best on ALL levels: body, mind and spirit! The character in the book is a little girl named Genevieve. With the help of a friendly ant, she walks us through her way of choosing a meal, letting her fingers lead the way. It's not just about food! We want kids to make the connection that food is energy, and that what they eat really affects their energy. We introduce the idea of the human energy system through the colors of the food. The little ant character, called "Super Ant" because he loves Super Foods, jokes that he doesn't have fingers, so he just eats the rainbow. A series of 3 books are planned. Next will be My Healing is in My Hands and will teach kids the chakra system and simple techniques they can do to balance their energy. The third book will be My Happiness is in My Hands and will show how thoughts and beliefs are also forms of energy, and teach tools that kids can use to raise their vibration. We need your support. We are pleased to announce that you can now renew your Professional and General Liability insurance for your practice for the April 2014-2015 policy.
Our HTPA insurance program is growing rapidly. Practitioners
and students understand that adding this coverage to their professional services is an essential business tool for risk management. Although this insurance is not mandatory, when you have professional and general liability insurance you are free to provide your services, teach, make recommendations, volunteer whenever/wherever knowing that you and your interests are protected. Maintaining this insurance shows that you hold a high level of professional responsibility which protects your interest, as well as, the welfare of your clients.
This year we are excited about our new on-line application. This new application allows us to process your renewal faster, as well as, provides a more secure way to pay. You will have the option to pay by credit card or by check.

I had the honor of presenting a block on Healing Touch and the Chakra Spread intervention on February 20th at a five day workshop sponsored by the Conscious Dying Institute, founded by Tarron Estes in Boulder, Colorado. I have been involved in hospice nursing, home wakes and green funerals for many years, so I was thrilled about meeting Tarron and hearing about her noble and much needed work. Fortunately for me, she also happens to live just a mile away here in Boulder, CO! She is also a faculty member with the Watson Caring Science Institute and her work is all in alignment with Caring Science and Dr. Jean Watson's work (which is one of the theoretical frameworks for the Healing Touch Program (HTP) curriculum). I believe that holistic practitioners and the Healing Touch community will want to be aware of the Conscious Dying Institute. I was able to attend two of the five workshop days and to hear three other presenters beyond Tarron including: (1) Major Brad Gallup, Retired Marine, Entrepreneur, Personal Leadership Mentor, Military Grief Facilitator, Sky Horse Equine Guided Educator, and founder of TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors - Grief support for families of those who have died serving their country). (2) Karen Van Vuuren, friend, fellow Waldorf mom, and founder of Natural Transitions, an organization based in Boulder, CO., which teaches communities how to create home wakes and to be your own funeral director. Karen is also a filmmaker (produced and directed Dying Wish) and the producer/director of Go In Peace, a documentary on helping veterans come to peace with their traumas and military history before they die. This film features Deborah Grassman and Ed Tick, respected leaders in the field of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which they refer to as Post Terror Soul Distress). This one hour film created a steady stream of tears in myself and the other attendees, but they included tears of hope based on our intention that this film be seen by all vets, their families and all caretakers of our wonderful veterans. Interestingly, the majority of workshop attendees had fathers who served in World War II, including my dad, Frank Poznanski. See the link above to see a trailer and to learn about future viewing and spreading of this important film on healing. In addition to meeting the other guest faculty at the workshop, I made some wonderful connections with nursing leaders in a large hospital system and with Kaiser Permanente. These amazing nurse leaders are active in caring science as well, and are interested in bringing more holistic care to their communities with both Conscious Dying and Healing Touch. It was very exciting to make another connection for Healing Touch Program with like-minded nurses who are facilitating the creation and strengthening of a culture of caring in their institutions. While I know the readers of this newsletter tend to be focused on CONSCIOUS LIVING, I hope this article prompts you to also think about CONSCIOUS DYING if you haven't already. Tarron's work in this area is making significant impact already in many circles and is much needed in our health care systems and culture overall. If we contemplate our last days on Earth and eventual departure, and start practicing conscious dying as part of our daily practice, we will be prepared when our time comes for a peaceful letting go of our physical bodies which will support us and our loved ones in making a smooth and joyful transition to the Other Side of the Threshold.
