Growing Connections
Greetings!

Did you get to see the incredible accomplishment over the weekend of Diana Nyad? She was successful swimming from Cuba to Key West, FL. AMAZING!! This was her 5th try over many years. At the age of 64 she said = "Hell NO, I'm not old!" She swam 54 hours 'round the clock, spanning approximately 104 miles and says we should "Never give up!" What a great model for us ALL.

Many of us have our own dreams that have been sitting with us too for many years. One of mine, as Executive Director of Healing Touch Professional Association, is to Build Community while Growing Connections. Even years before finding Healing Touch I was pinning for a holistic-minded Community of professionals and lay persons. Some refer to such a Community as a "gathering of Souls" that travel together during lifetimes both in physical form and non-physical. Although no one knows for absolute certainty, most of us do feel a kinship when we meet and spend time with others who speak our language, live our ideals and yes, when that occurs we usually feel it at that deep soul level.

Today more than ever we are experiencing Community building and our Connections are growing. The goals of many like organizations is to create One Voice for Peace, Global Humanity - Oneness in Caring, Sharing, Looking Out for Each Other and Heart-centered Living with Love at the root of all we do. Another goal is to be sure that no one is alone or isolated. There is an increased presence in the mainstream public of these ideals. Halleluiah!!

What can you do to Build Community and Grow Connections? HTPA has created a new resource  - Collaborative Alliances where you can learn about other organizations that we are aligned with because they have similar goals, ideals and standards. Currently we have information (with Links) about Jean Watson's Caring Science and HeartMath with their Global Coherence Initiative. We will be adding many more in the near future. Be sure to explore these organizations and join their Communities if they resonate with you. When you join in, you help expand our Connections with them and they with us. Another way to Build Community is to create or join an existing Local HTPA Chapter. You can read more about "how" to create an HTPA Chapter and review the growing List of Chapters by visiting the Community Connections page on the HTPA website.

Our HTPA 2013 Annual Report featuring Building Community and Growing Connections is available on the HTPA website. See the article below to open the Report . The Report will give you ideas of how to get involved to help us manifest this goal & dream.

ANNUAL HTPA MEMBERSHIP MEETING
HTPA Invites You to Listen to the Recording and View the Slides of the
2013 HTPA MEMBERSHIP MEETING

On June 27, 2013, we conducted our Annual HTPA Membership Meeting by phone and webcast to allow as many to attend as possible. We shared that we have just passed our 5 year mark and how grateful we are for ALL Members, Volunteers, Staff and Friends that have made our success possible. To learn what HTPA accomplished last year, what we are working on currently and what is coming in the future click here.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGIONAL CONFERENCE WAS A BIG SUCCESS!
HTPA participated in the Denver Regional Conference August 23rd and 24th, and the Annual Instructor Gathering the 25th. It always feels like home in Denver as that's where Janet Mentgen lived and started her Healing Touch business. Just about 95% of the attendees were HTPA members and we had a chance to have lively conversation about ways to expand Local HTPA Chapters and future benefits that HTPA has on the horizon. It always seems like we could use lots more time to network and brainstorm.

Sunday evening after the instructor gathering we were blessed with this beautiful double rainbow. Lisa asks = Potential Messages of the Rainbow: Are we prepared to move into a new light and see things with a new perspective? Feels right to us!

We are looking forward now to being together at the Seattle Regional Conference Oct. 4th and 5th. Hope to see you there (see information under Upcoming Events below).

THE STAND DOWN e-MANUAL IS GETTING FINISHING TOUCHES
american-flag-wavy.jpg HTPA has created an e-Manual offering "How to" suggestions for getting Healing Touch invited to events like Stand Downs and Welcome Homes. This is going to be a huge help as it includes templates for Inquiry Letters, Data Collection, Thank You Follow-up Script, Expense Reimbursement Forms, etc. As soon as it is ready we will send out an announcement to all members.

APRONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE
HTPA has chosen to order Cobbler Aprons that when worn at events like Stand Downs will identify Community Connections Volunteers. The HTP Office will send out the Aprons when requested and will provide a return mailing label so they can be returned for others to use. To order call the HTP Office (210) 497-5529. Here is a picture of these Aprons.

COLLABORATIVE ALLIANCES
We are thrilled to announce that HTP and HTPA are actively working with Jean Watson (the Watson Caring Science Institute) to expand and deepen our alliance. Jean has shared Links to her website and resources (click here to visit the Collaborative Alliances page on the HTPA website), Jean has also endorsed the Healing Touch Integrative Care Program manual and we are exploring how the manual can be used with her programs in hospitals and other clinic settings. The potential we have to bring Healing Touch to more and more people is continually growing.

On July 10, 2013 Cynthia Hutchison met with Jean Watson, Marcia Hills and Lois Kelly in Boulder, Colorado to discuss plans to expand and deepen the alliance between Healing Touch Program/HTPA and Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI). They had a wonderful and successful meeting.

HTPA "LIVE" INTERVIEWS
Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013  NO INTERVEW CALL
Sharon R 2
Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013  9pm-10:15pm Eastern
OPEN MIC - "Live" Discussion
You CAN Create the Business of your Dreams
facilitated by Sharon Robbins, HTPA Executive Director

Over and over we hear - "If Only............then I could have a successful business and finally make a living doing what I love to do!!"

Does this sound like your mantra? Isn't it time to overcome the "if only" obstacles?
Let's spend some time discussing how we can overcome those obstacles and soar into our dream career. Whether this is your first business or your last, the challenges are surmountable if they can be identified, addressed and solved.

Let's get together and discuss just what some of those "if only" obstacles are.
Some that are commonly voiced are:
  • "if only" we could get 3rd party reimbursement for HT sessions
  • "if only" I lived where there were more people interested in Healing Touch
  • "if only" Reiki wasn't so popular or being offered already in my facility
  • "if only" I was a licensed medical professional
  • "if only" I could get health insurance, I could quit my job
  • "if only" I had marketing skills
  • "if only" selling was easier and more me
  • "if only," if only...................
Are some of these "if onlys" keeping you from manifesting the business you desire??

Come, join the conversation to catapult you from "if only" to "Yes, I Can!"

Let's have an open discussion about YOUR desire to make a living doing what you love to do - Healing Touch and other healing "work." And let's find solutions for your "if onlys."

On this call, we will have Open Mic so everyone who wants to ask questions, share challenges, express needs, tell success stories = can.

Out of this exciting and solution oriented call, we will develop a Master Mind Business Group that will meet virtually to support each other in growing our businesses. If you are not able to attend this call "live," register anyway so you can be included in future communications leading up to the formation of the Master Mind Business Group. Supporting each other to manifest business CAN work but only if YOU choose to participate.

All suggestions on this topic are Welcome - please send your suggestions to HTPA:
[email protected].

Visit the HTPA website for more information and to register.

SPIRAL MEDITATION RECORDING AVAILABLE ON HTP WEBSITE
There are two recordings on the Spiral Meditation now available on the HTP website.

The following introduction was written by Kay Tolson. She and her husband George studied with Brugh Joy, MD for ten years. They have generously shared the recordings with HTP.

Introduction to the Spiral Meditation
Brugh Joy
Dr. Brugh Joy
Brugh set aside time in the morning each day, an hour or so, for meditation and suggested his students do the same. In his retreats Brugh taught through the principle of Induction. Having inducted a state of consciousness in himself, he would then join his students sitting on cushions in a circle on the floor. Taking the hands of the 2 students by his side, all would then hold hands. Gradually the students would come into resonance and be inducted into deeper states of consciousness within themselves.

To prepare for this recording of the Spiral Meditation, Brugh inducted the state of Unconditional Love in himself and that vibration emanates in the field and from his voice as he guides the student through the meditation. He said the intention of this recording was to teach the form so the student could learn the pattern and the practice of shifting from the giving and receiving sides of the psyche. Then the student would be able to practice the spiral pattern on their own and deepen into the states of the Heart independently.

Here are 2 guided meditations that may assist in developing and deepening the Heart Center and initiation into the Sacred and the Depth of Being. Brugh's "Introduction to the Spiral Meditation" in which Brugh introduces the Spiral Meditation, recording is about 5 minutes in length, followed by the Sprial Meditation.

HTWF UPDATE

htwf heel to heel logo HTWF is pleased to announce the inaugural Heel to Heal 5K Walk/Run in Cincinnati, OH was a HUGE SUCCESS! This one fun, beautiful day, racing around a picturesque lake, raised $5,700 to further HTWF's mission: to receive and distribute funds to assist, encourage and advance the philosophy, objectives and techniques of Healing Touch.

Of the 78 registrants, a majority finished the race. Healing Touch was offered on site so many participants received a 15 minute Healing Touch session. All were winners!

Thanks to all participants, sponsors, Healing Touch and race volunteers, and of course to HTWF for having faith that this event could be done with such success. Thank you also to the planning committee, led by Nancy Lavergne, for their faith and dedication to this event. Also, a big thank you to all who donated money or bought a T-shirt to help raise funds. It was a great team for a worthy cause.

HTPA is hoping to partner with HTWF to have Local HTPA Chapters conduct a Heel to Heal 5 K in their communities. Wouldn't it be FUN to have multiple walk/runs in HT regions throughout the year? If you are interested in bringing this fundraiser into your community,  a procedure manual is in development by the HTWF Committee to help you do just that.

Please contact Nancy Lavergne at [email protected] or 513-260-1273 for more information.
