Letter from the HTP CEO
Greetings wonderful Healing Touch Community,

HTICP Cover HTP has exciting news for this issue of the Community News. We are thrilled to announce that the Healing Touch Integrative Care Program: Integrating Healing Touch in the Clinical Setting (HTICP) manual was unveiled at the American Holistic Nurses (AHNA) Conference at the beginning of June in Norfolk, VA. This comprehensive manual provides a step by step process and the tools necessary to implement Healing Touch in hospitals, clinics, hospices and other healthcare facilities. The HTICP takes us one step close to realizing Janet Mentgen's goal of having Healing Touch in every healthcare facility. The manual received rave reviews at the conference and we sold copies there. Look for additional information provided below in the newsletter.

ahna 2013 The HTP table at the AHNA conference was loaded with our products and information and it was a testament to how much we have accomplished the past year. The HTICP manual, updated class notebooks and Sounds True Products garnered much excitement and interest and the feedback we received was wonderful.

Happy Summer Solstice to everyone. As we celebrate the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere we Lisa G send blessings of love and light to each one of you.

Thank you for the gift you are to Healing Touch.

Introducing New Manual for Implementing Healing Touch in a Clinical Setting
HTICP Cover Healing Touch Integrative Care Program: Integrating Healing Touch in the Clinical Setting is a comprehensive manual that provides the structure and necessary tools needed to implement Healing Touch in a clinical setting. It was developed through a collaborative effort between Healing Touch Program and Lourdes Lorenz, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, AHNA-BC, HTP-A.

As Director of Integrative Health at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, Ms. Lorenz developed, implemented and coordinates a very successful and sustainable integrative healthcare program that includes Healing Touch and several other modalities. As a long standing endorsed and accredited leader in nursing continuing education, HTP provides the standardized curriculum and professional support that makes Healing Touch a professional modality that is used in healthcare facilities throughout the U.S. Credentialed Healing Touch Program practitioners and instructors are recognized professionals in healthcare today.

The Healing Touch Integrative Care Program (HTICP) manual offers a step-by-step guide that begins with investigation and culminates in creating a sustainable integrative care program that can easily expand to provide Healing Touch throughout the healthcare facility. The outlined steps are flexible and can be adapted for use in facilities that range from small clinic settings through large hospitals. Click here to read more about the manual.

The retail price is $295 plus shipping and handling.

An Introductory offer of $250 is available to the Healing Touch Program community. (Offer is good through July 31, 2013.) The projected ship date is June 28, 2013.

Important Colorado Legislation Impacts Healing Touch Practitioners
CO State Flag On June 5, 2013 Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper signed into law Senate Bill 13-215, The Colorado Natural Health Consumer Protection Act.

The purpose of the legislation is to give all natural health practitioners the legal right to practice in the state of Colorado. Healing Touch is specifically noted in the bill. This bill applies to any person who is not licensed, certified or registered by the state as a health care professional, and who is practicing complementary and alternative health care services.

Any practitioner providing alternative and complementary health care services who is advertising or charging a fee for services is required to disclose the following in a plainly worded written statement to all clients:
  • Your name, business address, telephone number, and other contact information
  • The fact that you are not licensed, certified or registered by the state as a health care professional
  • The nature of the services you provide
  • A listing of any degrees, training, experience, credentials or other qualifications that you hold regarding the services you provide
  • A statement that the client should discuss any recommendations made by you with their primary care medical professional
  • A statement indicating whether you carry liability insurance

Practitioners are now required by law to obtain a written, signed acknowledgment from the client stating they have received the above information. A copy of the acknowledgement must be given to the client and the practitioner must keep a copy in their records for two years after the last date of service. Failure to do this means violating the law.

Click here for a copy of the bill.

Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation News
Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation Believes in Miracles!

In granting the support for Aparna Bhatta to pursue her HTP Instructor advancement, we have witnessed a miracle on the par of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes.

Beginning in August 2010, Aparna Bhatta was the recipient of a grant from the Janet Mentgen Vision Fund, a fund set up in Janet's memory to support the training of residents of foreign countries as Healing Touch Level 1, 2, and or 3 Certified Instructors.

Spring 2012, HTWF was able to help send Tim McConville to Nepal, as Aparna was ready to advance as a Level 2 instructor. He took along a suitcase with 50 lbs. of HT books donated to HTWF for Nepal. On his return, Tim brought back Aparna's gifts for the foundation to auction and use for fundraising.  At the 2012 HTP Conference, raffle and auctions multiplied the value of these gifts and the fund was replenished.

Spring 2013, Aparna was again supported in her advancement to Level 3 Instructor training. She arrived in time for the HTP Mid West Regional in Chicago with her suitcase packed with gifts for the HTWF to use for fundraising. Her gifts have contributed several thousands of dollars to add to the HTWF mission of granting funds to support help us help others "Spread Healing Light Worldwide."

Uniquely, Aparna has been able to donate several times over to the fund as she has supplied desirable items from Nepal to go into the auction items for fundraising.
We have a divine connection with the hearts of our Healing Touch Community.

Thank you for supporting the fundraising efforts. Your contributions allow for miracles to happen.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Taking Care of Caregivers
On May 13th, 14th, and 15th, 2013, Healing Touch Program Community of Hampton Roads joined in the celebration of Hospital Week at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA. This was our third time to offer Healing Touch to the hospital staff. Relying on the organizational structure and communications network established by Dottie Graham, HTCP/I, Virginia Center for Healing Touch, we recruited six Healing Touch Certified Practitioners and three Healing Touch students for the three-day event. The nine persons who volunteered their time and talent included: Clara Boyle, Sandy Branham, Tresa Harlow, Janie Hughes, Ann Peck, Herb Pixley, Nancy Sheheen, Marilyn Stulb, and Debbie Woodell. Sandy Branham led the group and coordinated the times and assignments. A total of 59 staff members, including nurses, nurses' aides, and hospital support staff, received Healing Touch. The greatest response came from the Post-anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The volunteers were well received. We were told by many, for example, that they felt more relaxed at the end of their sessions. Many persons, including Lynn Newberry, Director of Professional Practice, and Peggy Frizzell, Director of Service Excellence, asked us to come back in the future. We hope to return to Mary Immaculate Hospital in the fall.
