 Spring is here and the beautiful blooming flowers, growing vegetables and leafing trees mirror the growth and blossoming that is happening with Healing Touch. This month we had our first regional conference in Chicago, IL and it was wonderful! Thank you to the planning committee and volunteers who did an outstanding job, to the fabulous speakers, the many attendees and the exhibitors. Together you made the Midwest Regional Conference a huge success! I am always thrilled to be able to be with the members in our community and to share in your enthusiasm and commitment to Healing Touch.
The 2014 Worldwide Healing Touch conference will be in the same Hyatt hotel in Schaumburg, outside Chicago and we are busy planning for it. Stay tuned for information on speakers and registration information. The next regional conference will be in Denver, CO, August 23 -24, with the annual instructor gathering following on August 25th.
The NCCA accreditation application is almost ready for submission. We are incredibly excited about this and the opportunities it will provide our certified practitioners. We will provide updates as we have them. Members of the community are looking into insurance billing codes for Healing Touch and also having Healing Touch be continuing education for physicians.
Some very exciting news! The office has moved out of our home and into its own location in San Antonio. This is a giant step forward and offers HTP opportunity for growth and expansion. The staff loves the extra room as we have about three times the space! I have gotten many of Janet's stored items out of their boxes that they have been in for almost five years. Legal Issues in the Practice of Energy Therapies

 Midge is a Professional Liability Risk Management Consultant and specializes in Ethics & Legal Principles in Energy Therapies. She is also an Energy Healing Practitioner who knows the practice of Healing Touch as well as other Energy Medicine modalities. She co-authored Creating Right Relationships: a Practical Guide in Energy Therapies with Dorothea Hover-Kramer. Midge is the first attorney to receive her Ph.D. in energy medicine from Holos University under the auspices of Caroline Myss and Norm Shealy, MD, Ph.D. She understands both the law and the healing arts which allow her to lend her expertise as a bridge between the two worlds. HTPA is dedicated to helping all energy practitioners grow their practice armed with the knowledge of the highest professional standards possible, and with the best support we are able to provide as our profession grows. As we continue to bring Healing Touch and other Energy Therapies into "main-stream," we also increase our exposure to main-stream legal regulations. Our intention is to keep you informed. We agree with how Midge puts it: "Many energy healing practitioners do not want to deal with the legal aspects of their practices. The Annual HTPA Member Meeting is important to attend so you can add your voice to it. Please MARK YOUR CALENDAR and do join us. It is a time of recapping where we have been, outlining what we are currently working on and sharing what we have on the Horizon. Mom says: "The answers/vibrations I got from Henry, who is 6 months old, is that he would love to invest in his music career! The energy I felt when asking him what he wanted to do with his money made Henry beam and glow with light about him when we talk about music. Henry would like the piano that has 3 different learning stages with it so he is able to develop sequentially to be a great artist. He seemed so happy and smiley when I described the piano to him. The "magic pot" the money comes in will be used for Halloween treats this fall! Henry says:"Thank you so much HTWF"

Blessings from Beyond ~ Building a successful Healing Touch Practice

My Healing Touch journey began in November 2000 when I received a request from my husband's Oncology nurse, Chris, to attend a Level 1 class in Boca Raton, FL. I had lost Shelton to his battle with metastatic colon cancer that April. Chris was not only a wonderful oncology nurse, but became a close friend of ours and thought I would benefit from attending the class. That Level 1 class changed my life.
I went back to school after I lost Shelton and became an Oncology Nurse. My nursing career has been very blessed in so many ways. My previous career with Shelton and his business partner was building "Dream Homes" in the Chicago area. Never in a million years did I think I would be a nurse, let alone an Oncology nurse and a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner. Out of something tragic in my life, came the greatest gifts one could receive.
In December of 2010, I decided that I wanted to pursue the Healing Touch Program further. I took Level 3 in Wilmington, DE in March 2011 and was hooked! I continued on to Level 4 with Chris is July 2011 and then on to Level 5 in October 2012. I received certification status in January 2013. Read more.

When we take on the role of helper/healer we keep this vital understanding in the forefront of our mind. This approach to helping provides the best skills to facilitate the client's awareness and self-discovery. This course is for Healing Touch students interested in refining one's communication skills during a session and in identifying energetic patterns of interactions. Objectives: - To practice beginning and advanced communication skills in a Healing Touch session.
- To identify energetic interactions and patterns, including Character Defense* responses. (*We all communicate in ways that reveal our own patterns. When stressed or threatened we resort to basic protective patterns which we adopted long ago. These patterned responses are often outdated and ineffective. Knowing what our basic defense posture is assists us to stop the impulsive behavior and allows us to alter our acts.)
- To identify individual energetic defense patterns.
- To formulate effective therapeutic responses based upon energetic, cognitive and emotional information.
- To assist client self-discovery and planning for desired changes.
- To holistically use the self to assist others while maintaining detachment.
