Letter from the HTP CEO
|
What a wonderful and fun time we had at the 2012 Worldwide Conference at the beginning of August. Over 180 people from the HTP, HTA and ISHA communities gathered together in San Antonio to reconnect, celebrate, learn, laugh, sing, dance and support the foundations. Inspirational music was provided by the dynamic and talented Karen Drucker throughout the conference and she was instrumental in setting the tone for our gathering. I want to thank the staff, many volunteers and the presenters who put in a great deal of time and effort to make this conference our best conference yet. Click here to see photos from the conference.
Visiting with so many of the Healing Touch community members was incredible for me. I am so inspired by the stories that instructors, practitioners and students shared with me of how Healing Touch is being used in your communities and work places. Please take the time to share your stories with us by contacting us at HTNews@HealingTouchProgram.com.
We are busy planning the next Worldwide Healing Touch Conference which will in August 2014 in Chicago. Following the recent conference survey, we decided that the worldwide conference will be held every other year. We will continue to sponsor our Regional Healing Touch Conferences that will be held throughout the year across the US. Watch for updates in the Community News and on the HTP conference website.
Blessings,
Lisa Mentgen-Gordon
CEO, Healing Touch Program

Updated Policy for On-line Practitioner Directory | As of August 1, 2012 HTP will place all Healing Touch Certified Practitioners in the on-line Practitioner Directory. Anyone not previously listed in the directory was recently added by the Certification Administrator. If you were automatically added you should have received a notification letter.
All entries in the directory have been updated to include the HTCP's certification status and expiration date. The categories for certification status are:
- Current
- Lapsed
- Inactive (for expired certification with no intent to renew)
- Revoked
- Not Applicable (for those who have completed Level 5 and graduated the program and not yet certified).
Please check your profile for accuracy and make any changes needed. Note that practitioner status and certification expiration date can only be updated by the Certification Administrator. Contact certification@healingtouchprogram.com if a correction is needed.
The directory is one of the most popular areas of the HTP website with over 8,000 visits every month. It is used by the HTP office as a source for referrals to answer calls requesting a practitioner. Click here to go to the HTP Practitioner Directory.

Healing Touch Certification NCCA Accreditation Update |
Those actively involved in Healing Touch are by now well aware of the effort underway to prepare and apply for accreditation with the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Here is an update of some the latest developments in the process. For more details about accreditation please visit the certification website.
The biggest developments in the accreditation process are in the areas of exam availability, the grandfathering period, and standard setting. Read more.

Important ANCC Update on Issuing CE Contact Hours for Repeat Students |
Healing Touch Program is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC). ANCC only permits nursing continuing education (CE) contact hours to be issued ONE time for an educational course. This means that anyone repeating a class (repeat students, coordinators and classroom helpers/mentors) will not receive ANCC CE contact hours for the class. The class certificate for anyone repeating a class will not have the ANCC wording at the bottom. The hours on the certificate may be used for HTP practitioner/instructor certification renewal but not as nursing continuing education hours.

HTWF Update |
|
Karen Chin
|
The Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation has a new President, Karen Chin, RN, MS, HTCP/I. Karen's presentation at the 2012 HT Worldwide Conference focused on HTP and HTWF's support with Healing Touch in Nepal. Aparna Bhutto is now certified to teach HT Levels 1 and 2 and is teaching in Nepal and S.E Asia, with plans to reach southern India.
 | Roberta Davis-Lewis HTWF Auction |
HTWF wishes to graciously thank the conference participants and Healing Touch community for their enthusiasm, support and generosity, as the Foundation raised about $13,000.00! This included proceeds from raffle tickets and the silent and live auctions. Anne Boyd, Jane Hightower and Jeannette Nienaber generously donated 100% of their proceeds of their readings and healing sessions to the Foundation. The hand blown glass Kitras balls were a real hit, as all of these beautiful centerpieces on the conference banquet tables were successfully bid upon and found loving homes! The last of Janet Mentgen's relics were auctioned off this year. We thank the Mentgen family for their generous donation of Janet's personal belongings.
HTWF is actively looking for people to help round out its active, forward-looking Board of Trustees as we set our intention to become a $1,000,000 (and more!) organization. Please remember that our support of research, service projects and outreach is an extremely important way of spreading Healing Touch worldwide. The planet is ready for us! Expand Your HT Community - Create a Local HTPA Chapter
|
With the support of HTPA and HTP, Local HTPA Chapters provide the vehicle for those who want to create and/or expand their Healing Touch Community. Local HTPA Chapters are part of HTPA's Community Connections and have access to consultation with HTPA's Executive Director when requested. In keeping with HTPA's purpose to unite and give voice to the HT Community (students, practitioners, instructors and friends of Healing Touch), the specific goals for Local HTPA Chapters are as diverse and creative as the individuals that make up the Chapter.
The main goal/vision HTPA set for the Local Chapters is to Create Community. There are nearly unlimited activities for Chapters to provide. Local HTPA Chapters are facilitated by at least one HTPA Member/Lead but ALL, including non-members, are welcome to join in and participate (It is not required to be an HTPA member and it is FREE).

HTPA September Business Support "LIVE" Interview
|
Tuesday, September 11, 2012 ~ 9:00 PM Eastern
"Voice for HOPE - Healers of Planet Earth - What, Why and How?"
Interview with Denise Lewis Premschak, CEO of Voice for HOPE
HTPA has made a commitment to become more closely aligned with the organizations that we have established relationships with in the past so that we can strengthen our ties, build more rapport, exchange useful information, utilize our databases to help each other inform our members and the general public about who we are and what we do, take more advantage of each others resources and specifically create a louder Voice for our HT Community. Voice for HOPE is one such organization that has the values, commitment, determination and high professional standards similar to HTPA.
The Mission of Voice for HOPE is to advance the well-being of humanity by ensuring that producers, practitioners and consumers of complementary, alternative and integrative health and wellness services and products have meaningful participation in the development of public policy through educating policy makers and the general public, and promoting the rights of individual consumers and their families to information, access, redress and choice.
Denise will tell us more about just what the Goals of HOPE are, what they are doing to secure "freedom to choose your path to wellness" and how we can participate. This Interview will give you the information you need to be informed about how to protect your right to practice and then be empowered to accurately inform your clients..
Please join us for this opportunity to learn and ask questions about how you can get involved in helping to inform your local, state and national policy makers about our practice and its benefits. Click here to register.

The Wellness Revolution ~ 2010 Worldwide Conference |
By Dawn Warnaca, HTCP/I
What a blast! Singing, dancing, strolling the River Walk - oh, yes, Conference too! It was an amazing four days of fun, friendship and fascination as the speakers and workshops blended together in my mind and heart to strengthen my training and knowledge about energy and energetic health care.
 |
Karen Drucker and the Drucketts Tine Devoe, Cynthia Hutchison, Dorothea Hover-Kramer
|
One of the many personal highlights of Conference this year was listening to and meeting singer and songwriter Karen Drucker. Her energy and passion for reaching into hearts with her music was uplifting and totally enjoyable. I was thrilled with her song lyrics that so perfectly align with energy work.
Energy work comes at us from all kinds of perspectives. That too was clear at conference, we heard about scientific evidence that the heart is actually the more powerful 'brain' within the human body. We also learned about research being done and the difference between good and excellent studies.
My sense of conference had an unusual revolutionary image as I witnessed the moments and days pass by. From the incredible Olympic Themed Opening Ceremonies to the extinguishing of the Flame, I saw one revolution after another as each speaker, presenter and workshop turned and weaved with one another like single gears of a complex machine. I had a great time!

By Denise Lewis Premschak
It was a joy and pleasure to be part of the Healing Touch Conference in San Antonio. I want to especially thank Lisa Mentgen-Gordon, Cynthia Hutchison and Sharon Robbins for making it possible for me to attend and talk about Voice for HOPE as a part of the Energy Medicine Wellness Revolution that's underway. As a part of HTPA collaborating creatively with naturally allied organizations, Voice for HOPE (Healers Of Planet Earth) offers a space where HTP and HTPA community members may serve the Wellness Revolution in a unique way. Healers Of Planet Earth (anyone who has an interest in their own or others' wellness) become part of the collective Voice for HOPE to make a difference in healthcare policy, finance and legislation. YOU are 'HOPE' and YOU can make a difference with:
- Partner-Voice Membership is free and means you endorse the mission and activities of HOPE.
- Patron-Voice Membership is an endorsement of the mission and supports HOPE further with an ongoing monthly contribution.
- Register for HOPE on the HILL in Washington, D.C. in September and Denver, Colorado in October, for Citizen Healer Training which gives you empowerment and experience. Learn how, then team up to deliver a message of HOPE (Healers Of Planet Earth) to the office of your own State /District representative.
