Dear HTP Worldwide Community,
Because of the growth of HT and the discipline of Energy Medicine these days, HTP is growing our community and communications! This community newsletter has now expanded to include articles of interest about Healing Touch as well as news and announcements. Lisa Mentgen Gordon (CEO HTP) and I will continue taking turns welcoming you each month! Our other publication, Energy Magazine, will draw a wider audience of holistic practitioners and lay persons who want to learn more about energy medicine or affiliate with our community through shared learning, attendance at conferences/events and network building. I know you will enjoy this month's selection of articles, informational pieces and exciting announcements! As for a personal reflection from me in this issue, I'd like to share some of my thoughts about extra sensory perception (ESP)! Read more.
Blessings and smiles,

Healing Touch In My Community
|
At the closing of the 2011 HT Worldwide Conference the following intention was spoken, and people were asked to share throughout the year ways that this intention is manifesting in their community. "Healing Touch is expanding in a positive,
physically present way, in my community!"
We would like to thank Barbara Litchfield for sharing the following update: | Barbara Litchfield |
Since before the Healing Touch Worldwide Conference I have been offering the Introduction to Healing Touch Class to community groups, businesses, churches and friends at my kitchen table. Since the conference I have given this class to a Lunch and Learn group at a local hospital, a local Presbyterian Church and have classes scheduled at another religious group and civic group. Most people love the stories about my experiences with Healing Touch and enjoy the practice part of it. Individuals get so excited when they "feel something" or when pain goes away. It's very exciting and encouraging! Barbara Litchfield, MA, HTCP

Liability Insurance for Your Practice
|
We are happy to announce changes to our Healing Touch Professional Association Liability Insurance Program that bring more benefits to our subscribers. As of April of this year, we have a new insurance carrier - Philadelphia Insurance Companies. They have been in operation since 1962 and A.M. Best Company has assigned Philadelphia Insurance an A++(Superior) rating. A.M. Best issues financial-strength ratings measuring an insurance company's ability to pay claims.
The good news, for you and us, is that we were able to expand our HTPA Insurance Program to now include Alaska. Another plus is that this is an annual policy that renews every year on April 1st so your premium is prorated based on the month you enroll. Coverage renews for a full year each April 1st. What hasn't changed is that coverage for a practitioner that is a member of HTPA is under $12 per month.
Healing Touch Program and HTPA believe that all students, volunteers, practitioners and instructors need to carry Professional Liability Insurance for their practice.Even when you do your absolute best work and through no fault on your part, there is always some risk that someone with whom you interact, or their family, could file a claim against you. Without Professional Liability Insurance, you would have to pay for your own legal defense and any potential settlement costs.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, another reason to carry liability insurance is that more than one million people seek medical attention each year for "slip and fall" accidents. Often these accidents happen as a result of hazardous conditions on the property. A single claim can cost a business/you tens of thousands of dollars. The average direct cost for one disabling injury now approaches $28,000. As a small business owner or student, you need to ask yourself: Am I properly insured?
Bottom line - when you have Professional and General Liability Insurance you are free to provide your services, teach, make recommendations, volunteer whenever/wherever knowing that you and your interests are protected.

Interview with Melinda Chichester, HTCP and Dawn Warnaca, HTCP/I
Tuesday June 12, 2012, 9pm Eastern

Melinda Chichester
|
Just exactly what drives us to "be of service" remains a mystery, like the burning question "why are we here?" But the drive definitely does exist, and in many cases guilt for not doing enough or not serving in a bigger way comes right along with it.
Our June live interview will bring us personal insights from Melinda and Dawn. They both LOVE to volunteer for very different reasons. Each will share why they are driven to do so and tell us what they get out of it. | Dawn Warnaca |
HTPA is busy launching Community Connections - the avenue through which we intend to offer and support unlimited opportunities for giving service, expanding Community and actively being involved in local volunteer activities such as Healing Touch for the Military, their families and for under-served populations such as the elderly, homeless and the poor. Our Volunteer Bank is accepting applications. Click here to fill out your application.
Both Melinda and Dawn are volunteers with Community Connections so we will explore their experience and be open for any questions you might have about their service and about how you too can be involved. If you pine to be of service but don't know how to get started, have fears about setting boundaries or feel you just don't have enough time, join us for this call and you just might find the inspiration to clear the way and get actively participating to solve your innate desire to give back. Registration is necessary - for more information or to register, click here.

Ways to Give ~ Make a CHANGE
Donate to the HTWF Conference Auction!
Here is a wonderful opportunity to "Do the Work."
Janet Mentgen established the non-profit Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation to raise funds for Healing Touch research and outreach programs. Last year's funds have supported research projects, a pilot program for Healing Touch in Masonic Village Hospice and an outreach mission to Nepal to support Aparna Bhatta, Janet Mentgen Fund recipient of 2010.
Donating is a win-win situation! It is fun to donate an auction item and rewarding to have a charitable tax deduction with HTWF. It's exciting to watch the bids and satisfying to know you are supporting a wonderful cause. Click here for more information and some great points to remember about item donations.

Healing Touch Nepal Trip
|
By Tim McConville, HTCP/I
 | Tim & Aparna |
This report outlines the mission of Tim and Pam McConville to Nepal, which was graciously funded with a $3,000 grant from Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation. The grant paid for most of the air travel to / from Nepal. All additional trip expenses and teaching time was gifted by the McConvilles.
Our mission to Nepal was to help expand the ability to reach more students of Healing Touch. Aparna Bhatta has been teaching HT Level 1 for a little over a year now and has taught more than 150 students in Nepal and India. She is certainly a dynamic force for spreading Healing Touch and other community health improvements. Read more.

Imagine

By Timothy A. Nickel, MAT, MAR, FT
John Lennon sings to us, asking us to imagine. I ask you to do the same ...
Imagine a 55-year-old woman requesting to renew her wedding vows. Imagine the woman made this request to a hospice chaplain two days before she died. Imagine that the evening before she died, she not only experienced the renewing of her wedding vow ceremony, but she felt the sacredness of Healing Touch in the presence of her husband and five loving family members. Imagine knowing her wish was granted before she passed the following morning. Read more.

Birthing of a Healing Touch Volunteer Program in a Medical Center Setting
|
By Toni Adsit-Wilson, RN, MSN/ED, RCMT, HTCP, NCTMB
 | Toni Adsit-Wilson |
Considering the growth of integrative health care in conventional medicine practice settings, the time is ripe for the introduction of Healing Touch (HT) into health care systems. According to Jean Watson, HT connects clients and practitioners to the field of universal Love, Source, and Spirit, leading to right relationship with consciousness at its highest level. Through scientific research, the benefits of HT with numerous health conditions have been documented (Wardell, 2010). Recognizing the modality's value, a group of HT practitioners decided to introduce a HT program to our local medical center, Poudre Valley Hospital, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The program involved significant planning, beginning the process in February 2010, with the first sessions provided on April 16, 2012. Read more.

A Mother, A Son: A Healing Journey to Connectedness
|
 | Karla & Emmet |
My Experience with Healing Touch
By Karla Mitchell
In the time preceding the delivery of my son in July, 2010, I enjoyed a life full of health and joy, surrounded by my loving husband and four daughters. My evolution as a Healer had begun and I was enjoying heightened vibrations and increased levels of consciousness. I was settled, grounded, connected and pleased. In the fall of 2009, I had just completed the Healing Touch (HT) Level 3 course and found that my reaction to the energy work was rather peculiar. It felt like energy overload and I experienced a great deal of nausea. It was unusual. The next day following the class, I made a visit to the doctor and learned that my husband and I had conceived our fifth child.
The pregnancy was full term. The little bun in the oven baked like clockwork: no-risk and easy going, without incident or major concern in its entirety. During labor, however, meconium stained amniotic fluid was discovered. As a result, a Neonatologist was immediately called to await the birth of the baby. Read more.

Two People, One Dream
|
By Karen Heil, HTCP
 | Karen Heil |
Living the dream. What does it take? Money? Luck? Guts? What drives a person out of their cozy and familiar living room and into the wild, wide-open world of wonder...to shed all things familiar for the vast unknown?
Whenever we would tell people what our plans were, they would call us brave, and maybe with a little envy behind their words, say we were "doing" what most people just "talk" about. But, I don't think it has anything to do with courage. I can't speak for anyone else (and there are many) who has stepped outside the lines, those lines we draw around ourselves that keep us (supposedly) safe and secure. Read more.
