About the Speaker
Dr. Raed S. Kasem completed his specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1989. He received his degree in General Dentistry at the University of Damascus in 1983 and received his Master of Science Degree in Dental Biomaterials at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1991. Dr. Kasem received extensive training in the use of the surgical microscope for non-surgical and surgical endodontic treatment from the Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation in San Diego - California in 1993.
Dr. Kasem is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor for the post graduate endodontic program at the University of Florida in Gainesville since 1999 and at the University of Pennsylvania since 2009. He also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham between 1989 and 1991.
Dr. Kasem received two U.S. patents related to endodontic therapy. His 1994 invention is titled "A Method to Reinforce Endodontically Treated Teeth and to Increase Post Retention". His second invention was patented in 2006 and titled "Telescopic Mirror Attachment for Surgical Microscopes". He also has a third patent invention pending in an endodontic ultrasonic device.
Dr. Kasem is a national and international speaker and has given many presentations at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Sessions, Graduate and Postgraduate Dental programs and Dental meetings throughout the USA, Europe, Japan, South Korea and the Middle East. His presentations focus mainly on endodontic therapy in general and more specifically on the use of the surgical microscope for the retreatment of endodontically treated teeth with persisting symptoms or infection. Many of his case presentations were published and used for dental education nationally and internationally.
Dr. Kasem is a Past President of the Upper Pinellas County Dental Association, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Education Association, Florida Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, West Coast District Dental Association, West Pasco County Dental Association and Upper Pinellas County Dental Association.

TEAM UPCDA - Volunteers Needed

UPCDA members and friends, we need you to represent us as a volunteer for TEAM UPCDA! There is still time to register for the FDA Mission of Mercy (MOM) on March 28-29th at the Florida State Fair Grounds in Tampa. It is estimated that 300+ Dentists, Dental Specialists, Registered Dental Hygienists, & Physicians and 1000+ non dental professional volunteers are needed. We welcome the support of dental professionals as well as college students, family members and staff. This is a wonderful community service event and opportunity to volunteer. If you already have registered but would still like to be on TEAM UPCDA call WCDDA at 813-654-2500 and make the request. CE credit will be may be provided to volunteers. Community Dental Clinic
We are blessed in our area to have many options to give back to our community through volunteering our skills as dentists. A brand new venue is opening in northern Pinellas County. The name is Community Dental Clinic and is located in Clearwater. Volunteer dentists and hygienists are needed to work 4 hour shifts starting on Fridays (expanding to other days soon). Opening day is Friday, September 20th. If you would like to volunteer for any upcoming days please contact the Director, Cheryl Small, at 727-418-0535.
