 The Power of Giving $10
The Great Give was an extraordinary event.
Seeds 4 Success raised $16,540 from 317 donors in 24 hours. Thanks to each and every one of you who helped us win the $10,000 Grand Prize for the nonprofit with the most donors. Adding up our donations, the Grand Prize, and other prizes we won, we will receive a grand total of $32,540 from the Great Give. Thanks also to the incredible work of our Great Give Team of board members, staff, development committee members, and committed supporters. The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County deserves kudos for sponsoring the Great Give. Big thanks also to Dick Franyo, who gave us a fabulous Great Give kickoff at the Boatyard Bar & Grill, and a challenge match for our first 200 $10 donations.
Because of your help, these funds will help strengthen and grow our programs and we got the word out about our mission and the wonderful things happening at Seeds 4 Success.
Thank you, one and all.

S4S Executive Director Jessica Snell-Johns
The Great Give designated small nonprofits like S4S, Small but Mighty! Yes we are.
One reason for our "mightiness" is our Executive Director, Jessica Snell-Johns, Ph.D. Jessica's passion is promoting positive change in communities. She has guided our Board and Staff to do just that.
Jessica graduated from the University of Texas and obtained both her Masters in Psychology and her Ph.D. in Clinical - Community Psychology from the University of South Carolina.
Our grass roots founding group was lucky to have Jessica at our first meeting. While we were flapping our mental wings about what our first program would be, Jessica was there to make valuable suggestions. We faced many challenges as we tried to determine how we could best serve our youth and families. Jess was always there to offer encouragement, advice, and solutions.
Upon receiving our first 2010 City grant, we asked, "What's next?" Jessica knew just what we needed. She hired an incredible staff; and we launched! Her vision, grant writing, and evaluation skills set S4S on a successful, award-winning path.
After five years of guiding S4S, Jessica is stepping down as Executive Director. She has a thriving clinical practice and a young family. Both she and the S4S Board realized the need for a full-time ED. Jess plans to continue sharing her incredible skills with us in many ways.
Thank you, Jess, for your vision of what Seeds 4 Success could be.

I Am A Reader: Recently the S4S Education Dir. received this message from a staffer at Eastport Elementary about our
I Am A Reader program:
"The work you are doing truly stands out. It is wonderful that you have been able to recruit adult men for each boy. I already see this making a positive impact on these students. I see these men with these boys and I just had to tell you that I think this program is amazing and working!"
S4S Receives Another Award:
We were thrilled to learn that S4S has received The William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award. This award is given to one group in each Maryland county that ---
- improves the community;
- directly aids the most vulnerable in society; and
- creates a public/private partnership to improve the lives of Marylanders.
None of our good news would happen without each and every one of our supporters!
