Academic Excellence: 16 Years of IB support

The B-CC Foundation was instrumental in helping to bring the IB program to B-CC in 1996, and has been a critical source of support, beginning with its first grant in the spring of 1998. Over the years, the Foundation has awarded grants to the IB program on an annual basis, totalling over $48,000.

In the past decade, nearly half the Foundation's grants to the IB program have been used to fund equipment and software, nearly one-third were used to underwrite tutoring and mentoring programs for students, and twenty-two percent underwrote teacher training for the program.

The program is an integral part of the the academic experience of increasing numbers of B-CC students. In 2012, 80 students were IB diploma candidates and almost 400 were certificate candidates.
