A Note From Tina

Thank You Mamma's!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I've sure met some wonderful moms (and dads) since I started teaching Baby Signs.

Mother's Day Pic

Sunday on Oprah's Super Soul Sunday she had several speakers and one I'd never heard before was Dr. Shefali Tsabary. Dr. Tsabary was talking about how no one can remind you to "live in the moment" like a child. They don't think about the future or worry about the past and we as adults lost that long ago. She encouraged parents to go back and find that "self" that you used to have before the adults in your life "controlled" it out of you. I feel bad every time I shush a toddler or make them stop putting something interesting in their mouths (like a shoe!) while I'm doing sign language class with them. We start so early trying to teach them to conform to so many rules and it just breaks my heart that we should even have to do this. I always think of the writing on the wall at a center called Leaps-n-Bounds that says "Let Them Be Little....."

Here's the full talk if you want to hear it. It's really interesting.

Happy Signing,

Tina

Sufficient tummy time is imperative for babies and too little can lead to delays in sitting up, crawling, walking and even brain development.

You're told they need it but after you put them on their tummy, then what do you do? Is your baby fussy and you feel you give up too easily? Let the Baby SignsŪ Program help with easy, inexpensive ideas to help your baby tolerate this very important developmental stage. Bring your baby and join other moms and babies for some good social time for you and tummy time for your baby! Helpful tips in other areas of infant development are also covered in this class.

About Tina
Are you the parent of a baby or toddler and you are frustrated and overwhelmed because you can't understand what your child needs or wants?

Baby SignsŪ Instructor Tina Cavanaugh is here to help you break the communication barrier! With a few signs, babies as young as seven or eight months are able to express their needs, wants, feelings and even memories. Doing this strengthens the infant/parent bond early and gives your child a jump-start toward speaking and early literacy.

With 10 years of sign language training and six years teaching Baby Signs classes, Tina shows parents how to be amazed and thrilled over and over as their baby or toddler begins to share their world with them. Being involved in a process that builds confidence and good self-esteem early in children is so special and the stories that parents share with Tina about their success is pure joy for her.

The play classes go far beyond just learning a few signs. Parents go home with information about how their baby learns and develops intellectually and emotionally through those all-imporant first few years of their lives. Come join the fun that everyone's talking about!
