Earth Day, April 22nd

Earth Day 2016 is tomorrow. I hope you're being kind to the planet. Here's some great ways to celebrate:

This isn't really a "Tina Recommends" topic but wanted to let everyone know that my friend Sally Whitehouse is letting everyone know that her store Bright Beginnings is for sale. She and Marc are looking for that perfect someone to take over a store that's been around for generations of babies, toddlers, kids and pre-teens. They moved not too long ago from their 38th and Lamar location to 2925 West Anderson Lane and have settled in nicely. But lots of changes in Sally's life has her wanting to sell and do something different. She's looking for just the right person though because this has been her "baby" for a long time (33 years!). She'll share everything she knows about retail marketing, etc. with the new owner.

for Older Toddlers (14 - 24+ months)

NOTE: Start Date Moved out a Week - New Dates:

Sundays, May 1st thru June 5th, 2:00 - 2:45 p.m.

Cost: $100 for 6-week series

This six-week play class is for older toddlers who already know a sign or two and want to continue to socialize and be exposed to more signs that pertain to their emotional development (feelings, safety, etc.).

It's not necessary to have attended the 1st Sign, Say & Play class. Age and ability to sign are more important. This class is less expensive because there isn't a take-home kit included but additional reference items are available for purchase during the class.

BeeBo™ the Baby Signs® Bear joins us in this class as we learn a whole new set of signs and do new activities to help us practice them.

Sibling Class

Saturday morning - one-time class from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Cost: $30/family

Is your older toddler or child not thrilled about the new baby on the way? This is a class just for them that focuses on their new role as "teacher" to their new baby.

Your child will feel special and be excited about being a big brother or sister by the end of the class. The whole family will play games, sing songs, learn a few signs, enjoy a story time and make a special craft to take home.

Age of Baby: Expecting to 6 months

Age of Sibling: 2 to 5 years

Note: Dolls will be available if baby is not here yet or can't attend.

Walk-ins welcome.

Sufficient tummy time is imperative for babies and too little can lead to delays in sitting up, crawling, walking and even brain development.

You're told they need it but after you put them on their tummy, then what do you do? Is your baby fussy and you feel you give up too easily? Let the Baby Signs® Program help with easy, inexpensive ideas to help your baby tolerate this very important developmental stage. Bring your baby and join other moms and babies for some good social time for you and tummy time for your baby! Helpful tips in other areas of infant development are also covered in this class.

About Tina

Baby Signs® Instructor Tina Cavanaugh is here to help you break the communication barrier! With a few signs, babies as young as seven or eight months are able to express their needs, wants, feelings and even memories. Doing this strengthens the infant/parent bond early and gives your child a jump-start toward speaking and early literacy.

With 10 years of sign language training and five years teaching Baby Signs classes, Tina shows parents how to be amazed and thrilled over and over as their baby or toddler begins to share their world with them. Being involved in a process that builds confidence and good self-esteem early in children is huge and the stories that parents share with Tina about their success is pure joy for her.
