A Note From Tina
Got Runny Noses?

Between kids being back in school, allergy season already started and flu season coming soon I thought I'd share the medical signs we use with the babies. You can start teaching these to babies as young as six months and use them when they have to see the doctor (or nurse) or any time they feel bad (hot, cold, pain, etc.). Note: "Hurt" is a directional sign. You tap your fingers together in front of any place that hurts (ear, stomach, head, knee, etc.).

Happy Signing,

Tina

Free Infant Eye Exams at InfantSEE

Speaking of health signs, did you know that only 14% of children have had an eye and vision exam by age six? Doctors recommend a baby get their first exam at 6 months of age. This is important because things like eye movement (oculomotility) is a learned skill that can be influenced by their environment (i.e. you can help). By going early, any problems can be caught early and dealt with quickly and easily before they turn into expensive and lengthy ordeals. And there's no excuse because many doctors in your area will do a free eye exam on babies 6 - 12 months. Click on the link below to find a doctor nearby and get your baby's eyesight baseline done now.

This class is for babies two to six months old.

About Tina
Are you the parent of a baby or toddler and you are frustrated and overwhelmed because you can't understand what your child needs or wants?

Baby SignsŪ Instructor Tina Cavanaugh is here to help you break the communication barrier! With a few signs, babies as young as seven or eight months are able to express their needs, wants, feelings and even memories. Doing this strengthens the infant/parent bond early and gives your child a jump-start toward speaking and early literacy.

With 10 years of sign language training and five years teaching Baby Signs classes, Tina shows parents how to be amazed and thrilled over and over as their baby or toddler begins to share their world with them. Being involved in a process that builds confidence and good self-esteem early in children is huge and the stories that parents share with Tina about their success is pure joy for her.

The play classes go far beyond just learning a few signs. Parents go home with information about how their baby learns and develops intellectually and emotionally through those all-imporant first few years of their lives. Come join the fun that everyone's talking about!
