Greetings!
Happy February! Here's a little Valentine craft you can make with the ASL "I Love You" sign. Draw your child's hand on a piece of paper then cut out. Then bend down the two middle fingers and tack down with a sticker. What you'll see is the little finger showing the "I" and the thumb and forefinger forming an "L'. All together it's "I Love you!" Too cute.
Happy Signing!

In addition to the play classes and workshops I offer to parents and babies I've also been teaching older children in childcare centers for the past year. This article by Dr. Susan Goodwyn (Co-Founder of the Baby SignsŪ Program) talks about the benefits of older children learning sign language.

My Baby & Me (Sibling Class)
This class is for the older child (2-5 yrs.) adjusting to a new baby at home (baby can still be expected or up to 6 months old). It focuses on the new role of the older child as the "teacher" to their new brother or sister. Lots of fun activities keep them busy during this class with lots to talk about and practice at home later.
Location: Crenshaw's Athletic Club (Crenshaw Cottage)
Feb. 16th
Saturday morning - 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.
Cost - $15
Fun four-series play class for babies (2-6 months) that teaches fun activities that help keep babies on their tummies. Many important developmental stages depend on adequate tummy time and babies these days aren't always used to it as they sleep on their backs and spend so much time in car seats, bouncy seats, etc. Come enjoy this bonding time with your baby and meet other families at the same time.
Location: Crenshaw's Athletic Club (Crenshaw Cottage)
Feb. 23rd to March 16th
Saturday mornings - 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Cost - $50 (for four classes)
