St. Norbert Outlasts Viterbo in Holiday Tournament Championship

 Monday December 30 - De Pere, Wis. - 

 

St. Norbert College junior guard Austin Elliott had a perfect night to lead the Green Knights to a 70-63 win over Viterbo University in the championship game of the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament at Schuldes Sports Center.


Elliott was 8-for-8 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc, and was 2-for-2 at the free-throw line to score a game-high 21 points. Elliott also had three rebounds and two assists with no turnovers in 29 minutes of action, and was named the tournament's most valuable player.

V-Hawks Defeat Waldorf College in Rematch

La Crosse, Wis. - The Viterbo University men's basketball team used a 14-1 run to turn a six point deficit into a seven point lead, a lead they did not give up as they defeated Waldorf College  71-67.

 

After Viterbo University scored the first point of the game on a free throw, Waldorf College slowly built an 18-11 lead with just under ten minutes to play in the first half. The V-Hawks then slowly chipped away at their deficit to pull within 25-22 with just over three minutes left in the opening period. The Warriors then scored six of the final ten points to lead 31-26 at the half. Senior Cole Lewis (Prairie du Chien, Wis.) scored nine of his team high 17 points in the first 20 minutes.
