Nassau County SPCA Announces

Thank You for Your Court Advocacy Support

Thank you and the hundreds of others for supporting our new Court Advocacy Program, your voices will resonate! We sincerely appreciate your commitment to the animals of Nassau County. The Nassau County SPCA Court Advocacy program is your way to show support and solidarity against animal cruelty crimes in our community. The presence of the Nassau County SPCA Court Advocacy volunteers will convey a strong message to the defendant, the judge and all other interested parties in the criminal justice system that this community cares about the outcome of these animal abuse cases and is willing to devote its time and energies to monitoring the workings of the judicial system. We must stand for justice for the victims of animal abuse.  Together we will see that these voiceless victims of cruelty are not forgotten, and their pain and suffering are not without punishment and never read headlines like this again "Man convicted of dogfighting, gets probation"

Miss Harper January 8th Court update

First, we would like to say that the New York State Attorney General's Office with its Animal Protection Initiative has done a tremendous job investigating, getting an indictment from Grand Jury, and pursuing the case in Court, to ensure the people responsible for the brutal maiming of this puppy will be brought to justice. On behalf of Miss Harper, we thank you!

On Thursday, members of the Nassau County SPCA Court Advocacy program arrived at Court in Mineola and sat shoulder-to-shoulder in the front row of the courtroom keeping our vow to show a strong presence in court when it comes to animal abuse cases. The Assistant Attorney General and Investigator were ready to proceed, but as in the past, the defendants' attorneys were not. Hoping the news of our new Court Advocacy program made a difference, the defendants' attorneys were ordered to be ready to proceed at the next court date on February 9th

The Nassau County SPCA will keep you informed as we get closer to this date. Once again thank you for your support. It is so refreshing to see so many people join us to see that justice prevails for the animals that have been victims of abuse.

Remember we are their voice!!!
