A message from the president
President Joe Therber
Today marks the end of the first week of the school year.  Students' first days on campus have been very upbeat.

Preceding this week, our staff had a full and inspiring week.  We started with a two-day staff retreat on August 1, the opening of which was a dinner and reflections by Father Bob Gilday, Pastor of Little Flower Parish and a member of the Scecina Board of Directors. His remarks and reflections generated a lot of positive feedback and enthusiasm for the year ahead.

Our library transformation is progressing on schedule and according to budget. We are targeting September 23 as the opening day for student use.  To see pictures of construction in progress, please click here.

A special event is coming up next week. Archbishop Tobin will speak at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday August 16 at Holy Spirit Parish on East 10th Street on the Jubilee Year of Mercy.  I encourage you to attend as it is sure to be a growth opportunity.

May God bless you for your support of Scecina Memorial High School, and Go Crusaders!

Sincerely,
Joe Therber
President

Principal's note
Principal John Hegarty
We've gotten off to a great start at Scecina Memorial High School.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we met with all of the classes to prepare for the new-year. We also tested all students to benchmark their levels in reading, grammar and math. We also surveyed students on their strengths and interests. These grades and survey results will allow us to best serve our students.

We welcome six new teachers:
Marvin Greathouse, physical education; Michael Infantine, Catholic theology; Jim Maslar, returning to Catholic theology; Matthew Schroeder, math; Tony Schmoll, English; and Ellen Walsh, French. They bring a mixture of experience, youth and a passion for Catholic education.

It's another year of boundless opportunities for our students and for us as a Catholic school community. Our students will have opportunities to learn and to grow in all facets of life, from the classroom, to the stage, to the sports field, to travel destinations, to service options, in areas of faith formation and in their social development as young people of faith.

We at Scecina look forward to sharing these journeys with our students and you, their families.

God Bless!
John Hegarty
Principal
