A message from the president

We've all heard the term "accountability" used often in
President Joe Therber

the education world in recent years. There are more efforts to hold schools and educators accountable for student progress through the public reporting of data. Also, our students are made accountable through local and standardized tests as well as regular progress reports that record how well they're doing in their classes.

Because so many of you invest so much in our school and our students, we want to be proactive in reporting Scecina's results to you and being accountable and transparent. One way to accomplish this is through a Five-Year Progress Report that we plan to unveil in segments over the next few months. Many of my messages to you over this time will focus on progress in these areas: Academics, Catholic Culture, Capital Improvements, Enrollment and Finances. My plan is not only to show what we have accomplished in five years, but also to indicate some areas where we plan to improve or grow.

At the end of this process, we will have a full Five-Year Progress Report that brings together a breadth of data and information showing how Scecina is performing on many different levels.

We at Scecina feel good about what we have accomplished together in recent years. Of course, we know we can improve, and we strive always to be better and to do better. Through accountability and transparency, we earn the trust and confidence that bind the Crusader community together with hopefulness for our future.

Please continue to keep our students, our staff and our school community in your prayers.

Sincerely,
Joe sig
Joe Therber
President

Marian University's
College Tips
It Is Never Too Late
If your student is still figuring out what study habits work best for them or feels they could have performed better during a previous semester, remind them that it is never too late to make changes. College admission counselors will notice the improvements on your student's transcript.

Extracurricular Activities
Being accepted by a university is not just about GPA and test scores. All of the clubs, sports, and other activities your student is involved with show what makes them unique on a college application .

Continuing with extracurricular activities in college will help your student meet new people and feel like a part of their university no matter the size.

You have the opportunity to purchase an ad recognizing your senior in the 2016 yearbook. It's a great way to show your senior how proud you are. Ads must be purchased online. To place an ad, click on the link (https://yearbookforever.com/#school/19150/2016) and follow the prompts to either design your own ad or upload an existing ad (one you placed in a sports program, for example). The senior ad prices are low, and the design and purchasing process is simple and quick. The deadline for placing a senior ad is March 18. Cafeteria announcement
Please check your students' lunch balances and pay off as soon as possible! We are starting breakfast the first of March.

You should have received a letter about the new online cafeteria payment system. Thank you to all parents who are using it. For the parents who aren't, please try at www.mymealtime.com.

The cafeteria will continue to accept checks or cash.
Please try to keep your balance under $21.

Please report college acceptances
Seniors who have been accepted to a college should take their acceptance letter and any scholarships they have been awarded to Jennie Kitchell, College and Career Counselor. Students who report these to the Guidance Department then can wear college gear to school.
