Yearbook Ads for seniors
Parents of Seniors,
You have the opportunity to purchase an ad recognizing your senior in the 2016 yearbook. It's a great way to show your senior how proud you are. Ads must be purchased online. To place an ad, click on the link (https://yearbookforever.com/#school/19150/2016) and follow the prompts to either design your own ad or upload an existing ad (one you placed in a sports program, for example). The senior ad prices are low, and the design and purchasing process is simple and quick. The deadline for placing a senior ad is March 18. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Tuley at ctuley@scecina.org or 356-6377 Ext. 1007.

Help needed for 'Tarzan' musical
  • Ape Costumes: Our spring musical "Tarzan" has a large cast, including about 25 apes. We need a lot of black material to make these costumes. If you have any t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants or just scrap material that is black and that you no longer need, please consider donating it to the spring musical!
  • We need your help to finish the spring musical set so our apes and actors can practice on it. We will be working on the set from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday Jan. 16. Some tools will be needed as well. For more information or to RSVP, contact Mrs. Zeh Fulford at mzeh@scecina.org  or Cliff Wagoner Sr.at cwagoner@lairdplastics.com.

Please donate to Coat Drive
The Key Club's annual Coat Drive is now up and running through January! Please bring any new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, etc. All of these items will be donated to Catholic Charities. Anyone who donates will be eligible for a $25 gift card to Scecina's bookstore. Thank you!

Scholarships for current students
Applications for current student scholarships for the 2016-2017 school year are available on the Scecina website. There are five opportunities for current Scecina underclassmen to earn a scholarship for next school year. Don't miss out on this opportunity! Applications can be found at www.scecina.org/current-student-scholarship-opportunities. If you have any questions please contact Kelsey Abelein in the Enrollment Management Office at kabelein@scecina.org.

Please report college acceptances
Seniors who have been accepted to a college should take their acceptance letter and any scholarships they have been awarded to Jennie Kitchell, College and Career Counselor. Students who report these to the Guidance Department then can wear college gear to school. Also, the Guidance Department acknowledges all acceptance and scholarships at graduation and tracks how much scholarship money students have earned.

College scholarships
  •  Mason Bell Memorial citizenship Award: A $1,200  scholarship awarded annually by the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Indianapolis to a Scecina student who has demonstrated good school, family, and community citizenship

Marian University's
College Tips
FAFSA
Exploring a college education can come with a bit of sticker shock. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) discloses the types of loans your student qualifies for and helps you get a better grasp of the price and value of your student's future education. Learn more about applying for financial aid by visiting the Marian University website.

Scholarship opportunities
Unlike loans, grants and scholarships do not have to be paid back. Many colleges offer academic scholarships that your student can earn just by meeting minimum requirements. Ask universities about the scholarships they offer so your student can make sure they are on the right track. Check out the different academic scholarships offered at Marian University here
