A message from the president

Joe
President Joe Therber
Greetings!

Homecoming Week is a special time at Scecina. Alumni gather to remember their days at Scecina while current students enjoy a week of fun decorating the hallways, dressing up all week, voting for a court. Tonight, our students come together again for their Homecoming Dance, something Scecina students have done for years, but this year they'll celebrate in a renovated cafeteria (if you haven't had a chance to see the cafeteria in person, you can view photos at www.scecina.org/cafeteria-renovation).

This Homecoming Week we honor Scecina's history in many ways, including a tribute during the game to the Class of 1991 on their 25th anniversary. These alumni were seniors in the fall of 1990 when Scecina won its first state football championship. We'll also honor the 1966 football team on its 50th anniversary. After the game, alumni will gather at the Irish Mutt.

While we look back and reminisce, we also have some exciting plans for the future:
  • We've begun installing the new computers for student use in the library. All 16 new devices will be in place soon after Labor Day.
  • We've been listening to students, teachers, young alumni and our technology committee to hear what they would like to see in our redesigned library of the future.
  • A new school year starts with the passing of the baton of our Parent Ambassador Team leadership. I thank Julanne Sausser for helping to form our current Parent Ambassador program and for chairing it over the past two years. Nick Petrone, a new member of the Scecina Board of Directors, soon will take over the leadership.  Nick and his wife, Amy, have three children: Audrey '15; Dominic '17; and Sophia, an eighth-grader at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
We hope you can join us tonight at the football game. It's another great way to meet other parents and to connect with the Crusader Community.

Go Crusaders!
Joe Therber
President
