Schoolbelles orders are in
If you ordered Schoolbelles pants or shorts last week at the school, the orders are in the bookstore. During July the bookstore is open 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays. It also will be open 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 24 and July 30.
Main Office closed Friday
The Main Office at Scecina will be closed today, Friday July 17. We apologize for any inconvenience. The office will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, July 20.
Canterbury to play in All-Star Classic
Nate Canterbury '15 will play for the South Team in the Indiana Football Coaches Association All-Star game at North Central High School.
Cafeteria renovations begin
Our main capital improvement this summer is a full-scale cafeteria renovation. We're creating a more welcoming, refreshing and life-giving space through new lighting, ceiling, flooring and paint. Click here to view "before" photos of the cafeteria. We will post photos of construction in progress from now through mid-August.

Tuition contracts must be turned in
for students to start classes
Thank you to the families who have returned their tuition contracts.
Many families have not returned their tuition contracts to the Tuition Office nor have all their steps from the checklist been completed. These steps must be completed as soon as possible in order for your student/students to start school in August.The 2015-16 tuition paperwork was mailed to each family in May.
Parents, please open your tuition packets and complete the paperwork and steps on the checklist to assure your student is ready to start school. Tuition assistance and voucher renewal steps are included in the tuition packet. Contact Maureen Okerson 352-3262 in the Tuition Office with questions.
Scecina at Victory Field
Scecina Memorial High School is hosting a private picnic and ballgame for alumni and friends on Sunday, Aug. 2. Please visit www.scecina.org/indians for information. Tickets are on sale through Friday, July 24.
St. Vincent de Paul needs volunteers
Please join us July 25, 2015, from 8 a.m. to noon at 1201 E. Maryland St. to help serve struggling families in Indianapolis. First-time volunteers are much appreciated, and there will be repeat volunteers present to show you what to do. Summer is when we struggle to get enough volunteers, so please come help us! Alumni/patron sports program ads
Show your support for Crusader Athletics in the 2015-16 Scecina Athletic Programs. The $25 ads will include your name and class year in the Fall and Winter programs. Every alumni or patron will receive a Scecina booster car decal. Contact Cari Gallagher, Athletics Assistant, at cgallagher@scecina.org or at 317-322-4286. The deadline is Friday July 24.
Memorial Frisbee tournament
- What: an Ultimate Frisbee tournament in memory of Jenny Deery, with all proceeds donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
- When: 11 a.m. July 18
- Where: Ellenberger Park
- Who: Teams of seven players, co-ed, with at least 3 players of the opposite sex.
- Cost: $35

Parent Volunteer Opportunity
Do you like cookouts? The Scecina Parent Organization is seeking parent volunteers to help give a warm welcome at the cookout for new families during New Student Orientation, Wednesday, Aug. 5. Two volunteers are needed to help at orientation/greet parents as they arrive at 5:30 pm (volunteers needed from around 5:15-6:30 pm) and four to six volunteers to help serve food during the picnic (volunteers needed from around 6:00-7:30 pm). Summer camps
Scecina's Crusader camps are coming to an end. Next week's camp is co-ed volleyball for children entering Grades 1-8 through the week of July 20. The cost is $45. Register online at www.scecina.org/camps.

A ONE-DAY BAKING CAMP for fifth- through eighth-graders will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday July 24. Cost: $25.
OUR WRESTLING CAMP broke an attendance record. There were 24 young men at camp the week of July 6. Thanks, Coach Bobby Sponsel '04.

2015-16 Uniforms
There are some changes to our Uniform Policy for next school year. Students will be able to wear khaki dress uniform pants from Schoolbelles as well as three other brands: Dockers, Dickies and French Toast. They must be neat and unmarked (no stripes, designs, etc.). The following pants are not allowed: Capris or cargo or "skinny" pants, or pants made of denim, fleece, velour or athletic warm-up style.
Students will continue to wear the uniform polo shirt. There will be two styles of uniform sweatshirt (pictured below): crewneck and quarter-zip. The polo shirts and sweatshirts are available only in the Scecina Bookstore. Students will not be able to wear hooded sweatshirts (hoodies) at any time, including on Friday Spirit Days.

Summer Bookstore Hours
The Bookstore is open Mondays and Wednesdays and some evenings for the remaining of June and the month of July. The summer hours are:
- 9 a.m.-noon Mondays and Wednesdays
- 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday June 24; Thursday July 16; Monday July 27; and Thursday July 30.

Summer reading
All Scecina students are required to read at least one book before the start of the 2015-16 school year. In addition, students in an Honors English class, AP Language class, or AP Literature class are required to read a second book of their choice from the list provided. It is recommended that students keep a journal with a brief summary, relevant facts, names, themes and other important information about the books they read. Students will be assessed on the books within the first two weeks of school.

Service opportunity
The Downtown Mater Dei Knights of Columbus at 13th and Delaware can always use help to take care of cleaning projects, move tables and chairs, sprucing up the garden, etc. Also there are opportunities to help with our pro-life monthly fundraising brunches and other charitable events. Senior immunizations
The Indiana State Department of Health now requires that all seniors have a second MCV4 vaccination. The only students exempt from this requirement are those who received their first MCV4 on or after their 16th birthday. Please be sure to get your senior's updated record to the main office. Summer office hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office fax number is 322-4287.
National Catholic Youth Conference The National Catholic Youth Conference will be in our city, Indy, Nov. 19-21. Registration and scholarship information is due over the summer with final payments due Sept. 14. The theme for NCYC 2015 is Here I am Lord-Aqui Estoy Senor. Part-time Publications Coordinator: The Publications Coordinator at Scecina Memorial High School works closely with the Director of Marketing Communications to implement school communications.
The Publications Coordinator designs and produces publications, acts as the liaison with contract vendors, e.g., copywriters, printers, etc. Reviews and edits all publications for spelling, grammar, and accuracy of content; maintains the school's brand identity and graphic standards.
Candidate must have three years of experience in, and be proficient in, Adobe Creative Suite and also in web-based communications.
