Lessons in generosity at Scecina
Joe
      Joe Therber, President

Greetings!

Can generosity be learned? Yes, according to of Notre Dame professor Christian Smith. Smith is co-author of the book "The Paradox of Generosity: Giving We Receive, Grasping We Lose." Smith's research shows that the influences around us -- our parents, our religious institutions, our social networks -- greatly influence whether we become generous givers. Generosity comes to mind now, while we are in the midst of our annual Campus Crusade.

Our students will participate in the annual walkathon on May 11. They are seeking pledges to raise money for their school. Through Campus Crusade, we hope to inspire our students to learn the value of giving back. They have been encouraged to share the news of their Scecina experience with others to emphasize the value of a Catholic education.

By Principal John Hegarty

"I would like to take you on a journey I made March 22, 2015: the Re-enactment of the Bataan Death March. To understand my journey, I must take you back to the past. It is the journey of a young man, Thomas Scecina, who was ordained into priesthood in 1935. This young man chose to walk in the footsteps of Christ."
