Guidance is a communication designed to keep parents informed of upcoming academic events, scholarship opportunities, and important dates regarding post-secondary search and application.You can also find helpful Guidance Department information in the Academics section of www.scecina.org.

- Attention 10-12 grade students! The Algebra 1 and English 10 End-of-Course Assessments (ECA) will take place the week of December 8th. This testing administration will not be for first time ECA test-takers. This will be a retest for students who have not yet passed the exam after at least one attempt. Any student needing to retest should be engaging in tutoring during resource time, and/or before or after school. Passes will be sent out for these exams on Monday, December 8th. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Woodward in the guidance office.

Seniors
- Please pay attention to college application deadlines. The next round of deadlines is typically December 1st or January 1st. Please check individual college websites to view all required documents.
- REMINDER!!! Scecina does not send paper transcripts. ALL transcript requests must be sent through www.parchment.com.
- College Financial Aid Night will be held in January this year. Please stay tuned for a confirmed date and make every effort to attend this informative evening. Our speaker for the evening will be Kristine Butz, University of Notre Dame Associate Director of Financial Aid.

Juniors
- We will be hosting a college planning night for juniors in late January. Please stay tuned for more details on this informative evening on getting a start on the college search and application process.
- We encourage all juniors to take the ACT and SAT during spring of junior year.

College Information

Congratulations to all of the seniors who have already received acceptance letters! Colleges and universities all have different turnaround times, with some not sending acceptances out until winter or early spring. Please visit the individual college site for more information on the length of time between application and acceptance. Please also remember to bring copies of all acceptances and scholarship offers to Mrs. Joyce.
- Interested in volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo in 2015? The Zoo is looking for responsible, reliable, and enthusiastic students between the ages of 14-18 (must be 14 years old as of December 31, 2014). The Zoo Teen Program provides teenagers from Central Indiana with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of how a world class zoological facility functions, meet new people, and learn job skills. From November 1 until December 31, 2014, you can apply to become a Zoo Teen by downloading an application packet from the Zoo's website: www.indianapoliszoo.com.

Scholarship Opportunities

The Central Indiana Community Foundation's Scholarship Program 2015 Guidebook is now available at www.cicf.org. The Guidebook outlines the scholarships available to graduating seniors interested in pursuing a college degree. The CICF is a great resource to search for local scholarships.
- Applications for the Fireside Catholic Publishing Essay Scholarship are now available. Scecina can nominate one student for this $1000 award requiring a 750 word essay on how your religious education is influencing your life. Please see Mrs. Joyce for additional details. Deadline to apply is December 12th.
- The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Indiana is accepting applications for scholarships. Any seniors with Cerebral Palsy can apply. For more information, please contact donnar@ucpindy.org.
- The Elks National Foundation is accepting applications for its Most Valuable Student scholarship award. All interested students please visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars for more information. Application deadline is December 5, 2014.
