Greetings!

I have some fantastic news to share with you! Since 1953-sixty years strong-Scecina Memorial High School has motivated thousands of students to attain educational excellence, become lifelong learners, and live as servant leaders in the inspiring footsteps of Father Thomas Scecina.

Building on this tradition of excellence and recent school advancements, Scecina Memorial launched a comprehensive Strategic Growth Planning Process in 2012. The process involved over 250 professionals from the school and greater community. The goal, simply, was to chart a course for the next decade of excellence at Scecina Memorial High School.

Together, we succeeded in living the theme of this visioning and planning initiative: "Uniting People. Faith. Vision." As a result, during the summer of 2013, our Board of Directors submitted a proposed Strategic Growth Plan to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for approval.

I am grateful and proud to announce that the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has approved our vision and plan. This approval signifies confidence and support for the strategic pathways we are now pursuing. Our Strategic Growth Plan consists of eight (8) strategies:

  1. Make the Catholic faith more meaningful, vibrant, and reflective of diverse cultures for our students.
  2. Maximize enrollment in accordance with our mission, vision, values, and educational priorities.
  3. Develop an inspiring campus that supports excellent Catholic education, stewardship, and community engagement.
  4. Create and sustain a culture of high expectations and high support.
  5. Fund current programs and strategic priorities through Advancement and other revenue-generating initiatives.
  6. Achieve excellent student preparation for college and career success and lifelong learning.
  7. Develop strategic partnerships to fulfill Strategic Growth Plan priorities.
  8. Strengthen the future viability of Scecina Memorial High School.

Each strategy has several goals, which are broken down further into a series of objectives. These objectives were finalized through a lengthy vetting process with members of our Board, staff, Office of Catholic Education, and volunteer leadership. Our staff will complete many of these objectives through planned initiatives. In other areas, 82 members of our community have accepted an invitation to join one of several Implementation Teams that are charged with meeting assigned objectives.

In the coming weeks, we will begin to announce the early achievements of our Strategic Growth Plan. These include our new school mission statement, vision statement, and core values. Please look for updates in upcoming issues of the Father Scecina Magazine; our monthly e-newsletter, The Crusader; and my News and Views blog on the school website. Additional details of our plan, early implementation priorities, and latest successes can also be found at www.scecina.org/strategic-plan.

Thank you for the many ways in which you support the advancement of Scecina Memorial High School. I look forward to your involvement and to sharing the news of our ongoing success.

Sincerely,

Joe Therber

President
