We've added a third slot if you're interested!

3) On September 11th we will have an all church school get to know you time downstairs on our first Sunday together. Every year we have to Register all our children for safety. Here is our new "fillable" form you can open as a PDF, type in the information, save with a new name, email it to us. OR just print it out and bring it.

4) September 18th, Dave plans to be down in the Church School; Church School Committee/Friends Meeting after church in the Library.

First Take
17th Sunday after Pentecost:
There seems to be good evidence that the Jewish folk of Jesus' day often felt that their God was quite aloof from common affairs, that God "couldn't be bothered". Read through this passage, Luke 15:1-10, appointed for this Sunday. Both of Jesus' examples, the return of the lost sheep and the finding of the lost coin, are meant to challenge that assumption. Just like their human owners who rejoice with their friends and family that the sheep and the coin are found so also God rejoices at the return of the least, the smallest, those who may feel forgotten. When I hear these simple parables I'm reminded of how we need reminders that we are found" by God. I am also made aware of God's broader mission, the "search" for those marginalized by poverty, disease, racism or addiction.
There is an opiate addiction epidemic going on right now in New England. Addicts often slide further and further into the dark margins of society. Jesus' words remind us that even they are not forgotten, by God, nor should they, by us, either.
