Church School Notes

See you all on Welcome Home Sunday, September 13th, when we'll have our Breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by the return of the 10:15 service!

In the meantime join us at the Summer service at 9:15!

Workshop Leaders, student "Shepherds," and a Godly Play substitute Storyteller and Doorperson are being sought now for September!  Grade-schoolers will learn about Daniel through a rotation of workshops including Drama, Legos, Storytelling, Movie, Science and Computer. Godly Play students (pre K- K) will learn about Creation.   If you would like to know more about these volunteer roles or can help out in any way, please contact Nicole at 860-928-2155, or by email:  ccchurchschoolpomfret@gmail.com

On October 4th, there will be a special program with Chris George, Executive Director of IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services).  We would like to help the people this organization serves by collecting new or gently used linens (towels & bedding) and personal care items (toothbrushes, hair combs & brushes, etc).  These are items people need right away when they go to temporary housing, and usually do not have.  Please leave your donations in the box near the Church School bulletin board.  Thank you for your support! Donations list can be found here

The Church School Committee will meet briefly in the library after church on Sunday, August 30th for a quick review of fall schedules and assignments.

I am very excited as preparations for a new year get underway!
Nicole Nichols, Church School Director

Hope you're all enjoying your last week of summer!
Nicole

Teen Program Updates:

Rite-13 is the "first" of the 3 Teen Program groups and includes young people moving out of the Church School into their "teen" years. This coming 2-year cycle it will be for 6 and 7th grades! The point person leaders for this group are Kim Bergandahl and Greg Nichols (Christine Carter will be assisting this group in the fall)

J2Aers:.... we're looking forward to the new J2A group (coming up from Rite-13). The opening dinner and ceremony for the new J2Aers is Saturday, September 19th. The new J2A Leaders include Amy Nunes, Ginger Lusa & Adam Squires who are the point persons for this leadership team (there are three other more part-time leaders: Brian Smith, Steve Adams & Cyndi Sturni)

YACers:  the Leaders have already met and are starting to work on program looking ahead to collaborating with the returning Pilgrims. Jen Ritzau is a point person with support from Peter Mann and Donna Bessette). Note.... the YAC group this fall is essentially identical to the returning Pilgrims who will be meeting with their outgoing leaders to plan a Pilgrimage Report for presentation on a weekend evening OR a Church First Sunday.

TeenLeaders
Teen Program next 2-year cycle is starting in September: Our program leadership is looking good right now but if you have a "care for Teens" we could certainly find a place for you to participate!

Safe Church Training for all Teen Leaders that have not had it will be held at Christ Church on Saturday, Oct. 3rd.

Any help is appreciated, if there is too much help then we will send out for beer and pizza...........Rich D.
