TeenLeaders
Teen Program starting in September: We are looking for folks who have a special sense of engagement with teens and are willing to do a lot of listening..... Kim Bergandahl has volunteered as one leader for Rite-13 (grades 6-7). But we need a few more. Christine Carter will continue as a "point person" to participate in the work and prep new leaders. The upcoming Rite-13ers may very well need more support to become active.

First Take
Fourth Sunday after Pentecost, homilies at 8 and 10:15 services. (We go to one 9:15 service on July 5)

The readings will be from "Track 2", Job 38:1-11 (God meets Job from out of a whirlwind), a selection from Psalm 107:, 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 (in which Paul explores the wonderful contradictions of his work with God on behalf of the people of Corinth) and the Gospel is Mark 4:35-41 (the story of the storm journey across the Sea of Galilee)
The full text of the readings can be found  at the Lectionary Website here

One of the probable scenarios emerging from our study of human evolution in east Africa going back 2-3 million years is a story of environmental challenge, change and "paleo-human" response. Some paleontologists would go so far as to suggest that we became homo sapiens because of how difficult it was to adapt to a drying, changing climate as well as the volcanic nature of that part of the world. It propelled humans to physically adjust, to gather and cooperate in new ways, to become smarter and faster. It sounds like it was a painful journey as well.
Over and over we can read this story of Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee (which is really just a big lake albeit one that can still be dangerous for a small boat) as a story of God's comfort in tough situations. Not a bad interpretation and has great truth. Yet our experience is often different. We pray, we ask, we despair and the situation does not change. We suffer. Come on God, get with it! Perhaps the better message-reality is that it's really us that needs to "change", to embrace encouragement and find guidance so we can choose more wisely, move ahead or wait. We keep looking "out there". Perhaps it's "in here, in the boat" that the changes need to happen.

Special Mission Outreach
PID trip to Guatemala is early January 2016. It costs about $1300 (includes airfare from Boston, etc.). We're thinking of $600 a person church subsidy from the Special Mission. Can you do $700? This is a medical and building project mission trip but you don't have to be an expert. Here is the website! Here is a PDF about the base price before airfare and some general instructions. You will need inoculations for Guatemala.

Spirituality Experiments.... with Oscar Brockmeyer.
Group Spiritual Guidance for those within and beyond the church. Here is an overview. His updated schedule for June can be found here 860-942 2934 orobbrockmeyer@snet.net for more information.

Vine and Branches "Directory" Project
The fifth-sixth grade (Christine & Philippa) has started a vine and branches art-piece with the support of Judy Busse and Cyndi Sturni (our artists). We'll put up household photos all along the painted vine. Jim Goodwin will be informally taking photos but feel free to send in a Selfie with your family to this email address!

Dave's vacation starts on July 1st. No July Vestry meeting. August meeting date is now changed to August 19th at 7 p.m. after Dave is back from the Pilgrimage and Cotuit.

Buildings and Grounds
Our current plan is to repair the floor in the kitchen around the dishwasher over the summer as a volunteer initiative (Rich DiBonaventura). We have some roofing work to do where there was winter damage on the church roof outside the Sacristy (the Roofing Store). We have received some quotes for work on the organ which we are currently sorting through; Dennis Patton is helping assess this with the Foley Baker company. There are some rotten window casements a number of windows in the office building being investigated. And a few more bats "in the bellfry"!

Shawl Ministry:
Blessed shawls now in the closet in the hallway (fill out the log book on the back table in church). We have had a number of folks respond with thanks after receiving one of the shawls. Rebecca Patenaude, Coordinator

Sunday Gifts for Access.. Suggested Sunday morning donations: canned vegetables, canned protein (chicken, tuna, ham, beans and etc.), pasta, deodorant and 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner. List? Click Here
