Flower Memorials/ Thanksgivings:.... FlowersMemorialsThanks  

It's Epiphany season and you can participate by donating flowers that you purchase on your own or by signing up to have them purchased for you. The Flower Sign Up Master List is posted to the Left of the office door. You can sign up right there or call the office (928-7026) to Make a Memorial or a Thanksgiving for a loved one. If you sign up during the summer you can bring in flowers from your garden and leave them in vases on Saturday morning by the sacristy door and we can arrange them!

Our "Holy High-Five!"  goes out this week to Owen Ritzau for his leadership in the Bible Trivia Game Show run by grades 5 & 6!  About a dozen students from grades 1-6 participated in this activity last Sunday (having a blast, using real 'buzzers' and all!), and Owen was a shining star in his roles as both a contestant and an emcee!  Owen- you really know your Bible facts!!!  *Each Sunday, we welcome volunteers to suggest a "Holy High-Five!" recipient (pre-K through 6) for recognition of doing something positive for our Church School Community.


 

This Sunday, we will prepare for our Lenten unit, supporting the humanitarian efforts of Heifer International!  All Church School children will be given mite boxes to collect monetary gifts for Heifer, and an accompanying calendar to help the "count their blessings" throughout Lent while learning more about what heifer does to help people and the environment.  Children in grades 1-4 will also watch a video about Heifer's work to improve the quality of life for people in 30+ countries around the globe, and hear a story from a child's perspective.  The Godly Play group will wonder about "The Parable of the Leaven".  Children in Grades 5 & 6 will be going next door to the rectory to cook up some beignets with Mrs. Carter for "Fat Tuesday"!


 

Next week (Feb. 22), is Church First and Scout Sunday!  Church school will meet immediately after the 10:15 service downstairs for our first Heifer workshops (Storytelling and Art).  ALL SCOUTS are encouraged to wear uniforms to church on this day and sit up front to be honored for your commitment and service! 

We are looking for two leaders who are available March 15 & 22 for the following Heifer unit workshops:  Science and Puppetry.  We can email a link to the curriculum if you're interested... Please see one of us ASAP if you can help out!

Remember our Church School outreach by collecting food and toiletry items for ACCESS/Daily Bread.  The children are especially proud when it takes several of them to "haul" our heavily laden basket up the aisle in church. A copy of a needs list can also be found HERE

The Story

  

CSO....  Community Kitchen is back on! Our next cooking event will be on March 23rd and we will be going to the 1st Congregational Church of Woodstock (the Hill Church). The advantage here is that it is much closer than up in Thompson. Workshop Leaders:

The Rev Oscar Brockmeyer is a spiritual director, mentor, trainer, and ordained pastor (UCC).  He has over twenty years of experience in this field. He will be joined by the staff of Quiet Corner Family Practice of Pomfret: Dr. Murray Buttner, Dr. Heather Sullivan & the Rev.
