A "FIRST LOOK" AT THE NEW M217 WDR POWER SUPPLY
M217 WDR with Cooling Unit

Recently AMI introduced its replacement for the Model 207 - the Model 217 WDR, "The New Workhorse of the Orbital Welding Industry", provided with many new features.
Bo
th a customer and a partner with AMI, Critical Systems, Inc. (CSI) has written an article to provide some straightforward information and share their perspective on this new orbital welding power supply.
The big questions are:
1. Will the M217 WDR really measure up to the reliability and quality of the M207?
2. Do all the new 'bells and whistles' make the power supply more effective and easier to use?
To find the answers click the link below and read the full article.

AMI GUIDE RAIL (GUIDE RING) QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: What is the main concept of the guide rail?

M15 weld head on a guide rail

A: The guide rail (guide ring) is mounted to the pipe or tube to be welded and supports the weld head, guiding the weld head around the tube or pipe to be welded. It also serves as a tool for squaring the weld head to the joint to ensure that the head travels concentric and square to the weld joint.

Q: What is the advantage of the guide rail?

A: There are many advantages to using AMI guide rails.

  • AMI Guide Rails use a geared track design to prevent slip or backlash.
  • AMI Guide Rails are capable of welding the nominal size tube or pipe for each tabulation and one nominal tube or pipe size below.
  • AMI Guide Rails are designed to clamp together in two halves for easy mounting, high production, and can be mounted in hard to reach areas.

THE FIRST AMI WELDING CALCULATOR APP IS NOW AVAILABLE
Using input from customers, welders, engineers, floor managers, trainers, and internal staff we have created the most robust, user-friendly collection of welding-specific calculators in one, elegant and  easy-to-use app.

A
vailable via Google Play and iPhone App Store, the app includes the following features:
*
Heat Input Calculation * Energy Density Calculation * Power Ratio Calculation * IPM and RPM Conversions * Pulse Conversions * Averages * Volumes * Fractions * Deposition Rate

Users can also save or share calculations using the mobile operating system sharing capabilities, and can also select either English or Metric units. Logic within the app clearly prompts the user for valid input using a unique input block system.
