AMI GUIDE RAIL (GUIDE RING) QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
|
Q: What is the main concept of the guide rail?
|
M15 weld head on a guide rail
|
A: The guide rail (guide ring) is mounted to the pipe or tube to be welded and supports the weld head, guiding the weld head around the tube or pipe to be welded. It also serves as a tool for squaring the weld head to the joint to ensure that the head travels concentric and square to the weld joint.
Q: What is the advantage of the guide rail?
A: There are many advantages to using AMI guide rails.
- AMI Guide Rails use a geared track design to prevent slip or backlash.
- AMI Guide Rails are capable of welding the nominal size tube or pipe for each tabulation and one nominal tube or pipe size below.
- AMI Guide Rails are designed to clamp together in two halves for easy mounting, high production, and can be mounted in hard to reach areas.
