Using Optimizer to Manage Kaizen Parking Lot Items

What are Parking Lot Items?

The ideas and suggestions that come up during a Kaizen event, but are out of scope.

Often times we capture parking lot items on a flip chart paper or a white board...

But then what?

Use the Optimizer to:

Capture Parking Lot items during the Kaizen
Create a report of Parking Lot items
Set an automatic email so you can review the items at at later date

Capturing Parking Lot Items

From your Kaizen Event... Tasks (or Newspaper) Tab:

Click Add Task

Choose Parking Lot as "type"
Enter remaining info
Click Save

Suggestions:

Use the sort/filter functions at the top of the list to hide Parking Lot items when doing a kaizen task review

Set the due date to end of year or quarter depending on how often you want review Parking Lot items

Add any additional information in the description box if you think the context of the item might be lost over time.

Creating a Parking Lot Report

From Reports>Tasks>Sort/Filter All Tasks

Choose Source "Kaizen"
Choose Type "Parking Lot"
Choose Status you would prefer

Note: Choose OnTime/Late and Near Late to see all items that are NOT complete

Click Run Report

Setting Up An Email Frequency for Parking Lot Reports

Once you've set up your report....

Name the Report and Save (not sure how to name/save?)
Click the tool icon next to the saved report
Choose email frequency
Click Save

Naming and Saving Reports

After you set your filters and Run the report...

Enter a name for report

Click Save Report
