JULY BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

Don's Original Restaurant & Pub Don's Original
2055 Nine Mile Point Rd
(585) 377-1040

John & Karen Cipro have been the proud owners of Don's Original Restaurant and Pub in Penfield since February of 2005 when they initially opened just the "Restaurant" side.  In April of 2007 they opened the "Pub" side and their sales doubled in only a few months.  The front of the restaurant is counter service fast food.  The back is a family friendly sports pub.  The Pub caters to clientele who want to have a drink with dinner.  Being able to serve two different demographics has helped them be successful.   (more)

Help Us Nominate the Business of the Month

Each month, the PBA Business of the Month committee selects a member business that is a positive influence and actively involved in building and strengthening our community. Some examples of how previous Business of the Month recipients have made a difference in our community are:

  • Serving as a volunteer on a Board of Directors for a charitable or other organization
  • Donating time and resources to various church groups, Penfield school programs or teams, community programs, etc.
  • Volunteering for, assisting or organizing fundraisers for not-for-profit entities in the area
These are only a few examples of how Penfield businesses are making a difference. If you know of a member business that is actively involved in our community, send us an email nominating them for this award. Tell us a little bit about them and what they do for the community and we'll take it from there.

WFSS Issues Penfield Challenge to Drill Well

Through July 31st

WaterForSouthSudan Water for South Sudan, a not-for-profit organization located in Penfield, is planning a town-wide effort to dig a well in Africa. WFSS is partnering with a number of Penfield organizations and businesses, including the Penfield Public Library, The Barn Owl, Starbucks and Penfield Sport and Fitness Club to raise $15,000 - the full cost of a single well.

WFSS will partner with the Penfield Library for their Summer Reading Game (June 24 through July 31) whose theme this year is "Dig into Reading." A generous Penfield supporter has allowed a donation to be earmarked for children participating in summer reading game; children who fulfill their reading contracts will get to "earn" money toward a well to be drilled for the Penfield community.

They already have $5,000 committed to this, thanks to the library program donor and would like to open the project up to other Penfield businesses. Consider placing a change jar at your place of business to collect much needed funds to help dig water wells for clean drinking water, or contact them to discuss other possibilities for fundraising at your business. Visit their website to learn more about the project and for contact information.

Message from the PBA Board of Directors

PBA Event Reservation Payment Notice

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible support in attending our events! We appreciate your enthusiasm and participation in our workshops, networking and community events.

In the past, the PBA has absorbed any expense for members who registered for events but were unable to attend for various reasons. Unfortunately the cost for holding events has increased and it has become necessary for us to change this practice. Going forward, the PBA will need to charge you for any reservation you are unable to fulfill unless we receive a cancellation notice 48 hours prior to the event. We are sensitive to the fact that last minute schedule challenges occur and we encourage you to send a substitute in your place if you find yourself unable to attend.

For all PBA meetings requiring reservations and a meeting fee, we have always extended a "pay at the door" option to our members and guests and will continue to do so. We also offer the option to pay by credit/debit card or PayPal on the PBA website.

Again, thank you for your tremendous support! We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
