MARCH BUSINESS OF THE MONTH     Family First logo 2012

Family First Federal Credit Union
2520 Browncroft Blvd (Headquarters)
(585) 586-8225

Family First Federal Credit Union was originally founded in the Penfield area and has operated here for 44 years. It was first known as Penfield Central Federal Credit Union, operated out of the home of Penfield teacher Dick Dennison, and was chartered to serve employees of the Penfield Central School District and their families.  After a merger with BOCES Federal Credit Union in the 1980's, and the expansion of its membership to include social service agencies, small businesses and community groups by the mid-1990's, the name was changed to Family First Federal Credit Union in 2002 to reflect its philosophy to put "Family First." It currently operates as a not-for-profit financial organization owned by its members.  (more)

Help Us Nominate the Business of the Month

Each month, the PBA Business of the Month committee selects a member business that is a positive influence and actively involved in building and strengthening our community. Some examples of how previous Business of the Month recipients have made a difference in our community are:

  • Serving as a volunteer on a Board of Directors for a charitable or other organization
  • Donating time and resources to various church groups, Penfield school programs or teams, community programs, etc.
  • Volunteering for, assisting or organizing fundraisers for not-for-profit entities in the area
These are only a few examples of how Penfield businesses are making a difference. If you know of a member business that is actively involved in our community, send us an email nominating them for this award. Tell us a little bit about them and what they do for the community and we'll take it from there.

Upcoming PBA Events
Final reminders for PBA Membership Renewals for 2013 were sent out last week. On March 15th we will begin removing directory listings for 2012 members who have not renewed for 2013. If you haven't renewed, we hope you'll decide this week to join us for an exciting year of workshops, networking events, and marketing opportunities for your business. (renewal info)

NOW THROUGH MARCH 25
New ~ Kudos Program ~ A Marketing Opportunity for your Business with the Penfield Central School District

Recently the Penfield Business Association partnered with the Penfield School District's Parents Advisory Board to bring you an exciting new opportunity to promote your business while also recognizing the many outstanding educators who serve our community on a daily basis. The program is called "Kudos for Incredible School Staff" or "Kudos" for short.

To participate in Kudos, you create an offer, a "Kudo", unique to your business - an attractive offer such as a discount, a coupon, or a free entry into a prize drawing - which will be extended to all employees of the PCSD. Kudos will be in effect during Staff Appreciation Week, May 6-12, 2013 (or longer if you like). PCSD employees will visit your business and present their employee photo ID to claim their Kudo. It's as simple as that!

There are roughly 900 professionals employed by the Penfield Central School District. Many of these employees also live and raise their families in Penfield. This represents a tremendous marketing opportunity for you to raise awareness for your business and be noticed by the district's parent organizations - the representatives of the families of more than 4,000 students. For more information about the Kudos Program, including participation forms and FAQs, visit our website.

Message from the PBA Board of Directors

PBA Event Reservation Payment Notice

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible support in attending our events! We appreciate your enthusiasm and participation in our workshops, networking and community events.

In the past, the PBA has absorbed any expense for members who registered for events but were unable to attend for various reasons. Unfortunately the cost for holding events has increased and it has become necessary for us to change this practice. Going forward, the PBA will need to charge you for any reservation you are unable to fulfill unless we receive a cancellation notice 48 hours prior to the event. We are sensitive to the fact that last minute schedule challenges occur and we encourage you to send a substitute in your place if you find yourself unable to attend.

For all PBA meetings requiring reservations and a meeting fee, we have always extended a "pay at the door" option to our members and guests and will continue to do so. We also offer the option to pay by credit/debit card or PayPal on the PBA website.

Again, thank you for your tremendous support! We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
