Inspiration and Motivation for those touched by cancer

8 Great Ways to Help A Family That Needs You

  1. Donate your rewards points to us, and we'll use them to help kids with cancer, their siblings, and parents.
  2. Are your kids celebrating a Summer birthday? This year, instead of giving out goodie bags filled with erasers and candy your kids DON'T need, why not donate the money you would've spent to us - and we will make sure our pediatric cancer patients and their families get what they DO need
  3. Chores pile up fast when you have a child in the hospital. Here's where your kids can help (their friends can come too). Let them mow the lawn, weed the garden, water the plants, do the laundry, vacuum the whole house, empty the dishwasher, change the sheets, clean the kitty litter box, or walk the dog.
  4. Email or text the parents of a sick child and offer to drive their other children back and forth to summer activities.
  5. Run with our Lexie's Legs team-or come cheer us on! Check out our two upcoming events in the sidebar or go to our website for details.
  6. Are you heading to the beach or to fireworks night? Invite the sibling of a pediatric cancer patient. A carefree, fun time could do wonders for a worried brother or sister.
  7. Decorate a sick child's room. Pictures of starfish, mermaids, shells, the sun or a fun sailboat will put a smile on a child's face.
  8. Stop by your local hospital to donate magazines, books, crossword puzzles, Madlibs, arts & crafts, puzzles, or gift cards that can be used in the hospital or at nearby restaurants.

Dear Friends,

The end of the school year is almost here, and you know what that means - Summer is right around the corner! During this hectic time, we wanted to let you know what we've got planned for the months ahead.

For the fourth Summer in a row, we plan to spend a day at Sunrise Day Camp. This is the only dedicated full summer day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings.

This wonderful camp is designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational and physical needs of kids ages 3 - 16 by day while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night.

We cannot wait to join these children for a fun-filled day that includes lunch, goodie bags and entertainment. We're expecting over 100 kids to attend!

We'll be sure to let you know how it went in an upcoming newsletter. Or, you can always check our website to see our latest photos and news.

Meanwhile, our Lexie's Legs team members are busy training for two fun and fabulous events. We've got the Ocean to Sound Relay coming up at the end of September, and Lexiebean's Annual 5K Run/Walk in October. Please join us - and run for a cause that really matters.

Speaking of running, is this something you love to do? Why not join our Lexie's Legs Team! We're forming a team for the Ocean to Sound Relay right now, plus we're involved in other fun events. Please contact our Running Coordinator, Donna Greenstein for more information:

Tanner

Whenever our young friend Tanner thought people did something really awesome, he'd give them a high five. So, in his memory, we'd like to give Tanner's High Fives and a giant "Thank You" to some truly amazing people:

Lexie's old school, Kramer Lane Elementary, did a craft drive in her memory. The second grade students collected crafts for The Lexiebean Foundation to send to children in the hospital.

Lexiebean board member Ed Conlon, his wife Amy, and their son Timmy held a drive for pajamas and books in memory of their daughter and sister, Kaylee Rose. They received 297 pajamas, 498 books, and cash donations in her memory, and they donated them to help us help our kids.

Thanks for being so awesome!
