Inspiration and Motivation for those touched by cancer

This year, don't let Summer pass you by without doing something simple and fun that can help someone who really needs you! Here are some inspiring ways to enjoy those sunny days AND help our kids:

10 "Summery" Ways to Help A Family Coping with Pediatric Cancer

  1. If it's Summer, it's lemonade time! A lemonade stand is always a fun way to get your kids outside and involved.
  2. This year at your child's Summer birthday party, instead of giving out goodie bags filled with things the kids DON'T need, why not make a donation to us--so our pediatric cancer patients and their families get what they DO need.
  3. Next time someone asks you what you want for your Summer birthday (and you don't want another tie or cookbook), ask for a donation to be made to us instead.
  4. If you're planning a day at the beach, invite the siblings of a pediatric cancer patient. A carefree day of sun and fun could be just what a worried brother or sister needs.
  5. Do you know a child who is bedridden at home or in the hospital? Brighten their room with homemade paper chains that look like waves, and are decorated with starfish, surfboards, bicycles, shovels and pails, or mermaids. Let your kids help!
  6. Bring a picnic basket filled with Summer goodies like fried chicken, watermelon or ice cream to the home of a child with cancer. Include a picnic blanket, a deck of cards, or even a bottle of bubbles so they can have an impromptu picnic with their family in their bedroom or backyard.
  7. Stop by your local hospital to donate magazines, books, crossword puzzles, Madlibs, arts & crafts, puzzles, and gift cards to be used in the hospital or at nearby restaurants.
  8. Donate your credit card reward points to us so we can purchase gift cards that will help the families who turn to us.
  9. Run with our Lexie's Legs team-or come cheer us on!
  10. Did you miss our April Gala? Please consider making a donation to The Lexiebean Foundation instead. No donation is too small-we're grateful for them all! Send your contribution to us at The Lexiebean Foundation, 46 Werman Court, Plainview, NY 11803, or go to our website at www.lexiebeanfoundation.org to use your credit card. Thank you!

Dear Friends,

Spring has sprung, and you know what that means: our April Gala has come and gone! Our 4th Annual Wish Upon A Star Gala was held on April 25th.

We had our greatest turnout ever with 427 wonderful guests. Together, we all enjoyed dinner, raffles, 50/50, wine pull, silent and live auction prizes, a photo booth, amazing DJ, a rockin' dance party, top shelf spirits and some of the greatest people around.

We were so proud to present our Tanner's High Fives Award to Warren Rosenfeld, M.D. and Winthrop Hospital's Cancer Center For Kids.

The Lexiebean Foundation can never forget their tireless dedication, commitment to excellence, and compassionate care for the children and families facing pediatric cancer.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Lexie at our April Gala. Lexie was a extraordinary young girl whose life and legacy inspired us to make things better for other pediatric cancer patients. If you missed this very special event, don't worry. You can still help us by purchasing a journal ad for your business on our website. Call LeaAnn at 516-852-8227 for further details.

We are blessed to have some of the best sponsors and supporters. Read about some of them in Tanner's High Fives. Or, for some new ways to help families dealing with pediatric cancer, check out Lexie's Corner.

Keep watching our website for the latest event updates, or check out the sidebar for more details. We'll be participating in a 5K Walk/Run fundraiser, Lexie's Legs runs, carnival and more. Check out the sidebar for more details, and keep checking back at our website for the latest updates.

Have a joyful spring!

All the best,

Your friends at The Lexiebean Foundation

Lexiebean supporters John and Janet Kornreich made an announcement at our April Gala: they are building "Lexie's Learning Corner" at Winthrop's Cancer Center for Kids.

In this beautiful space, children undergoing treatment can learn, play and socialize in a safe and fun environment. Joe and LeaAnn (Lexie's parents) were surprised and touched by this incredible gift that lets Lexie's name live on and help other children battling cancer.

It is truly an amazing gift that we appreciate beyond measure.
