Dear Friends,

With all of the snow we had this winter, it's hard to believe that spring is almost here. You know what that means: our April Gala is right around the corner.

That's right: we're having our 4th Annual Wish Upon A Star Gala on April 25th! There will be raffle baskets, a live auction, a 50/50 raffle and a wine pull, top shelf spirits, a complete sit down dinner, dancing and more. This is a fabulous night out, and one that we would feel honored to have you share with us. So please, don't forget to return your RSVP to our Gala by April 11th.

All our thanks go out to our Tanner's High Five Award Winner, Warren Rosenfeld, M.D. and The Cancer Center For Kids. Lexiebean has chosen these two recipients due to their tireless dedication, commitment to excellent care, and compassion for the children and families battling pediatric cancer.

Come celebrate the life of one little girl, Lexie, who inspired so many of us to make things better for children suffering from pediatric cancer and their families. If by chance you can't make it that night, you can also help us by purchasing a journal ad for your business or as a booster to show your support for us. Visit our website at www.lexiebeanfoundation.org or call LeaAnn at 516-852-8227 for further details.

As the days grow longer and spring fever turns into summer fun, we'll be participating in other events, including more 5K Walk/Run fundraisers, a carnival, and our annual party at Sunrise Day Camp . Check out the sidebar for more details, and keep checking back at our website for the latest event updates.

We are blessed to work with some pretty awesome people. Read about a some awesome kids and adults who found creative ways to help us in Tanner's High Fives. Or for some ways to celebrate new beginnings-and help families dealing with pediatric cancer-check out Lexie's Corner.

Have a joyful spring!

All the best,

Your friends at The Lexiebean Foundation

Tanner

Whenever our young friend Tanner thought people did something really awesome, he'd give them a high five. So, in memory of that happy, fun, and affectionate little boy, we'd like to give Tanner's High Fives to some truly amazing people:

Giulianna Razzano, a 3rd grader from Kramer Lane Elementary School in Bethpage, handcrafted and sold beautiful bracelets-and raised $50 for us!

Stuffing envelopes for our Gala invitations is hard work! Many thanks are in order for our tireless volunteers, including Kayla (7 years old) and Lexie (5 years old), who helped us get the job done.

Girl Scout Troop 3415 Bethpage, many of whom are some of Lexie's old classmates, made and donated blankets for the Foundation to put in baskets for our kids.

Thanks, everybody, for being so awesome!

Go to our website at: http://www.lexiebeanfoundation.org/families-helped.php to see the children we've helped so far.

Thanks for helping us make a difference to these important children and their families!

Exciting News

Our newsletter writer, Maria Schulz, has written a book: Tales From a Hungry Life: A Memoir with Recipes. Take a look at the awesome cover - created by our newsletter designer, Grace Maher.

Tales from A Hungry Life: A Memoir with Recipes is a collection of funny, nostalgic, and touching stories about a not-so-typical 1970s American family from Queens. Italian and Puerto Rican, they were the Sopranos with a Spanish twist, a lot less money and only their own blood on their hands. Meet the six sons, one daughter, two exhausted parents, relatives, and friends that lived, loved and ate like there was no tomorrow...and try some delicious family recipes while you're at it.

It's available on Amazon.com in a Kindle edition; the print edition will be coming out in the weeks to come. Go to Amazon.com where you can order the book, download a FREE Kindle app, or find out more about it.
