New York Wines Shine in the Sunshine State

 

                 New York wines won a total of 156 medals in this weekend's Florida State Fair International Wine Competition, including 22 Double Gold, 22 Gold, 75 Silver, and 47 Bronze awards.  The Florida competition, with entries from 30 States and a few countries, has traditionally been one which celebrates diverse varietals and styles of wine.

 

                 Chateau Frank Celebre Rose took Best Sparkling Wine and Dr. Frank 2013 Semi-Dry Riesling was voted Best White Wine--after doing the same at the San Francisco Chronicle competition a month ago!  Dr. Frank also won Double Golds for 2012 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay and 2013 Gewurztraminer; and Gold medals for 2013 Riesling Reserve and 2014 Gruner Veltliner.

                 Other Double Gold medals went to 21 Brix Champella; Arbor Hill Griesa Hill Iona Rose; Keuka Spring 2013 Riesling; Liberty Vineyards & Winery Fredonia; Torrey Ridge Lucky, and Diamond; Treleaven 2013 Late Harvest Vignoles; and Vineyard View Winery 2013 Niagara.

                  Gold medals were awarded to Arbor Hill Sparkling White; Casa Larga Meritage Limited Release; Fulkerson Juicy Sweet Moscato; Goose Watch 2013 Viognier; Heron Hill 2013 Chardonnay; Keuka Spring 2013 Chardonnay, Celebrate and Clara's Red; Lakewood 2013 Chardonnay and 2013 Lemberger; Lamoreaux Landing 2013 Gruner Veltliner; Liberty Vineyards & Winery Diamond; Owera 2013 Solo Chardonnay; Six Mile Creek Ithaca White; Swedish Hill Naturel and Spumante Blush; The Cape Winery Marquette Rose; The Winery at Marjim Manor Slice of Heaven; Thousand Islands Winery 2013 Marquette Oak Aged; and Treleaven 2013 Semi-Dry Riesling.
