LNHS/LHS Commencement Ceremonies Set for Sunday, May 15
Both Liberty North High School and Liberty High School will host Commencement Ceremonies for the Class of 2016 on Sunday, May 15, at the Silverstein Eye Center's Arena (formerly Independence Events Center) in Independence, MO.  Liberty North High School's ceremony will begin at 2 p.m., followed by Liberty High School's event at 6:30 p.m.  Nearly 400 Eagle graduates are set to walk across the stage, while LHS plans to graduate just over 400 students!

Congratulations to all of this year's graduates!  We wish each of you the best of luck as you enter into the next steps of your life journey! 
REMINDER:  Last Day of School at LPS is Monday, May 23
The final day of school for the 2015-2016 school year in Liberty Public Schools is Monday, May 23, 2016.  This will be a three-hour early release day.
Coffee with the Community Slated for Thursday, May 19
Liberty Public Schools will host the final Coffee with the Community for the 2015-2016 school year on Thursday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at the District Administration Center (3rd Floor/Board Room).  LPS Superintendent, Dr. Jeremy Tucker, will provide attendees with a year-in-review while also looking at what's ahead for LPS.  We hope you will make plans to join us!
Audit and Finance Committee Seeking Members
The Board of Education is currently seeking applicants interested in filling the vacant seats of the Audit & Finance Committee. The seats available are two, 3-year positions ending June 30, 2019.  Service for the position will begin immediately following an interview and selection process by the Board of Education to be conducted on Monday, June 20. LPS Retirement Reception Thursday, May 19
Liberty Public Schools will honor its Retiring Class of 2016 on Thursday, May 19, at South Valley Middle School.  An opportunity to congratulate and thank this year's retirees in attendance will take place from 4:30-5 p.m., followed by a brief program beginning at 5 p.m.

School Nurse Day is Wednesday, May 11
National School Nurse Day is today, Wednesday, May 11!  We have an amazing Health Services Department at LPS that handles over 160,000 student visits to our nurses offices collectively, throughout the school year.  Our outstanding Health Services staff is equipped to deal with whatever walks in their doors.  We honor them on National School Nurse Day for the excellent nursing care they provide our students every day!   
Liberty Oaks Library Media Specialist Receives Honor
Teresa Barnett, Library Media Specialist at Liberty Oaks Elementary, has been named the Librarian of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians.  The purpose of this award is to recognize a librarian's distinguished service and leadership in their school library. The librarian who receives the award each year will have made a significant impact on the students and staff in his/her school. Teresa has taught in Liberty Public Schools for 17 years.  She has been a 3rd grade teacher at Manor Hill Elementary, a 1st and 3rd grade teacher at Lillian Schumacher Elementary, and a Library Media Specialist at South Valley Junior High.  She is in her 7th year as the Library Media Specialist at Liberty Oaks Elementary.

Summer Middle School Band Camp Opportunity
Sign up online for the LPS Middle Level Band Camp, June 6-10!  The half-day morning camp will be held at Liberty High School for all kids currently in grades 6-7, from all four LPS middle schools.  

It is strongly encouraged your band student attend a summer music camp!  Many cherished memories and lifelong friendships are made through summer music camps.
Youth Football Club Opportunities Available
A new youth tackle football program is being started in Liberty. Our goal is to provide a competitive environment for kids within the Liberty community to learn the game of football and best prepare them to play at the high school level. Join Liberty Football Club now!

Spirit Squads to Host Clinics Coming Up This Fall
The Liberty High School Cheerleaders and Sapphires will be hosting their annual Cheer and Pom Clinic on September 21.  For more information on this event, click here.

In addition, the LHS and LNHS Cheerleaders will host a clinic for students K-5 on Tuesday, August 30.  Participants will receive a t-shirt, learn cheers, play games, and perform during pregame for the LHS/LNHS football game on Friday, September 2.  For more information or to register online, click here.

Relay for Life of Liberty Returns Saturday, June 25
Relay for Life of Liberty returns on Saturday, June 25, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the South Valley Middle School/Discovery Middle School track, located at 800 Midjay Drive, Liberty, MO.  To register for the event, visit their website by clicking here.  If you would have any additional questions about this event, contact Event Chair Julie Davidson at 820-6696.
Camp Fire Heartland Summer Day Camps Registering Now
Camp Fire Heartland's programs immerse participants ages 5-16 in nature to learn, explore, and grow together while developing a lifelong respect for the outdoors. Past participants agree, Camp Fire offers a variety of activities, making this day camp experience unforgettable!
 
Summer Youth Day Camp (ages 5-11) - Camp Fire Heartland will be offering seven weeks of Youth Day Camp beginning June 20 and ending August 5. Programs will start at 8 a.m. Spaces are limited and fill up quickly, so register today to guarantee your place. Check out our cool weekly themes here.

Outrageous Teen Camp (ages 12-16) - Our campsite is just home base. The city is our campground. The Hogan at Camp Lake of the Woods will serve as home base from which campers arrive and depart each day. Then, 3-4 times per week, campers will go off-site to a field trip location based on the camp theme of the week. Half of our weekly field trips involve community service where campers will spend time learning about an organization in the community and volunteering on a wide variety of projects. All that, plus campers will go swimming twice each week! It is summer, after all.
LPS to Offer DIVAS Camp
LPS is thrilled to offer an engineering camp specifically for girls.  We will focus on building relationships with female engineering students and professionals, using our creativity to problem solve and exploring the many career paths open to women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  This camp is scheduled for July 14-15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Liberty North High School.  For more information on the camp and to sign up, click here

Earnest Shepherd Youth Center Offers Summer Camps
Looking for adventure? Sign up for summer camps at Earnest Shepherd Youth Center. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication. The addition of the QN Bulletin Board allows them to now be publicized. This bulletin board will continuously be updated throughout the week, and announcements will remain until they expire by date.
