Revd Heather Houlton has been appointed as Interim Minister in the parish of Keighley from the 30.8.16 - 20.6.17. Heather will have particular responsibility for St Barnabas, Thwaites Brow.

Revd Mark Zammit appointed as Area Dean of the Almondbury Deanery (Huddersfield EA) 

Revd Caroline Skelton has been appointed as the Retired Clergy and Widows' Officer for the Bradford EA

Not content with the usual coffee morning fundraisers, Dales vicar, Canon Ian Greenhalgh has devised his own three day Lake District duathlon - running and cycling up mountains and round lakes in the Coniston and Keswick areas.More here

Photo Competition for diocesan office 
The diocese is holding a photo competition, and the winners will appear on the walls of the new diocesan office in Leeds. There are three categories (including a children's category) and we're looking for exciting and slightly unusual images.

The Follow Me talks return to Wakefield this autumn. Bishop Tony Robinson, has announced five evening teaching sessions at Wakefield Cathedral with a variety of speakers to explore faith and discipleship. First up is Bishop John Pritchard on 29 September. More details here
A day to simplify your church admin
On Wednesday 5 October, parish teams can learn how iKnow Church software can help their church admin - a free event in Leeds. Churches in the Diocese of Leeds will also receive a 25% discount for the first year. More here.
Leeds DAC are hosting two training sessions, on Health and Safety and Risk Assessment for churchwardens and/or other parish officers next October 11 - one in Knaresborough, one in Pontefract. Find out more here

Areas AROUND THE AREAS
From London's West End to Bradford's Great Horton parish church - singer and actress, Tabitha Webb, will be bringing an evening of music to St John's Great Horton next month as part of the Love Changes Everything tour promoting the work of mission organisation, Interserve. Find our more here 
HUDDERSFIELD
Plans have gone on show to remodel St Michael's Mytholmroyd after it was ravaged by floods on Boxing Day. Workmen are busy relaying the floors while the church worshipped first in the cricket club and then the catholic church. They hope to be back in their own building later in the autumn. More here.
Can your church help asylum seekers this winter? West Yorkshire Destitute Asylum Network (WYDAN) will open a winter shelter in Leeds from mid-December, and they need churches to host the guests for a week. More here.
The renowned Black Dyke Band give a gala concert at Ripon Cathedral this Saturday September 3 and one of the highlights will be  a recently commissioned work by Yorkshire composer, Philip Wilby which received its first performance from the Black Dyke Band three months ago. It will be accompanied by images from photographer David Tarn.. read more here
'A Beautiful Life' is the title of a memoir Canon John Holmes, retired priest and former diocesan missioner, is publishing about his late wife, Rosemary. It is being launched at an open Mother's Union meeting on 12 September at Wakefield Cathedral. All are welcome. More on this story here.

September 1 was proclaimed as the World Day of Prayer for Creation by the Orthodox Church in 1989, and many other Christian churches have joined since then. It was then extended to be a month-long Season of Creation, ending on October 4 (Feast of St. Francis). You can find resources for yourself and your church here
Prayer across the diocese
The July-Sept edition of the Prayer Diary is available on the website to pray for people and places across the diocese and world. New prayer card to pray for deacons & priests as well as Prayers for Overseas Links - Tanzania, Sudan & Erfurt.   
Ecclesiastical Insurance report that cases of lead or metal theft from churches and church buildings are on the rise again. To help parishes they have provided a checklist. Find it here

Places of Worship: security funding scheme
Home Office grants to provide protective security measures for places of worship in England & Wales. Deadline for bids: 5pm, 20 September. A second round in spring 2017. Details of qualifying criteria and how to bid can be found here.
The 2016 version of the Practice Guidance Safer Recruitment has been published which updates guidance to parishes on all matters relating to safer recruitment. Find it on the diocesan website safeguarding page here along with a range of relevant forms to help you with safer recruitment.
