Revd Bryan Dixon left his post of Priest in Charge of the Benefices of Crakehall, Hornby, Patrick Brompton with Hunton and Spenningthorpe with Finghall and Hauxwell ,June 2016 to become Team Rector of the Middle Rasen Group in the Diocese of Lincoln.

Revd Rachel Wilson resigned from her post as House for Duty Associate Priest in the Benefice of Lower Wharfedale and as Minister in the Deaf Community -July- to take up a House for Duty post in Pocklington in the Diocese of York.

Revd Michael Jackson will retire as Vicar of St Michael the Archangel, Kirkby in Malhamdale at the end of September 2016.

170 Angels @ the Leeds Festival
170 'Angels' will attend the Leeds Festival later this month. The event, at Bramham Park near Leeds, attracts around 85,000 people over August Bank Holiday weekend and the Festival Angels offer help and run a prayer café, where young people can discover more about the Christian faith. More here
The six bishops of the diocese, in conjunction with Muslim leaders in West Yorkshire, have issued a statement condemning the recent violence in France and Germany, and sending particular sympathy to Roman Catholic brothers and sisters on the day a priest was murdered in France.  Read the statement here 
The three cathedrals of the diocese, Bradford, Wakefield and Ripon, will benefit by almost a million pounds following the announcement of a second phase of grants awarded by the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund for urgent repairs.  Find out who has received what, and how it will be spent 
The Wakefield Mystery Plays have opened in Wakefield Cathedral to rapturous audience receptions. The series of plays originally written by the City's Guilds in the Middle Ages have been rewritten and turned into two new plays for this production - The Fall & Rise and The Price of Love. They run until this Saturday Aug 20th so there is still time to catch them. More here .

Photo Competition for diocesan office 
The diocese is holding a photo competition, and the winners will appear on the walls of the new diocesan office in Leeds. There are three categories (including a children's category) and we're looking for exciting and slightly unusual images. Closing date 30 September.  More here.
Gold for Life - Fairtrade Gold Event
Behind the glitz all is not so glamorous for millions of small scale miners. Fairtrade is changing this. Come and hear how from an African gold miner on tour with the Fairtrade Foundation on 12 Sept at Bradford Cathedral. More

The Follow Me talks return to Wakefield this autumn. Bishop Tony Robinson, has announced five evening teaching sessions at Wakefield Cathedral with a variety of speakers to explore faith and discipleship. First up is Bishop John Pritchard on 29 September. More details here

Bradford Cathedral with 'Thinking Faith' is organising a unique conference for Christians in business later this year. 'Business and the Kingdom' takes place on November 12 with a range of national and international speakers - more details 

Canon Paul Maybury, currently Bishop's Mission Priest in Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, is returning to Britain with his wife Sarah to become part of the team at Bradford Cathedral, as Canon Precentor. He will be licensed on Sunday 11 September - read more about Paul here
HUDDERSFIELD
A memorial and thanksgiving service to mark the centenary of an explosion at Low Moor Munitions Company in 1916 which claimed 40 lives and seriously injured 60 others will be held this Sunday at St Paul's Church in Birkenshaw. More here
All Hallows hosted a 200-strong pop-up choir as they recorded an anthem for Team Refugees in the  Olympic Games. The record got its world premiere on Radio Leeds and all profits will go to local charity PAFRAS (Positive Action for Refugees & Asylum Seekers). More here.
Straight talking South African Farmer, Angus Buchan, whose faith has carried him through drought, financial crisis and family tragedy, will tell his story at the Mighty Men's Conference at Nidderdale Show Ground, Pateley Bridge, over the weekend of 26-28 AugustFind out more here

Sporting vicar and Area Dean, Canon Ian Greenhalgh will be putting his stamina to the test once again to raise funds for his churches. He has devised his own three day duathlon and sets off on Monday, with his son, to run round Coniston, cycle round Keswick and run up Skiddaw.  More here
Helping fill the summer holiday hunger gap, a Wakefield church centre has joined forces with MakeLunch, the local rugby team, and a preschool nursery, to provide nutritious meals for children who rely on free school meals. Find out more here

Wakefield Cathedral has launched its own sweet rock 
to coincide with  Seaside in the City - which has seen the city centre transformed into a beach with sand pit, a small sailing lake and donkey rides! Find out more about the Cathedral Rock here

Prayer across the diocese

Awards from the National Churches Trust (£3000-10,000) to support churches to become more sustainable. More details including online application. See also - Building Advice and Friends Groups. Closing date: 12 September 2016.
September 1 was proclaimed as the World Day of Prayer for Creation by the Orthodox Church in 1989, and many other Christian churches have joined since then. It was then extended to be a month-long Season of Creation, ending on October 4 (Feast of St. Francis). You can find resources for yourself and your church here
Places of Worship: security funding scheme
Home Office grants to provide protective security measures for places of worship in England & Wales. Deadline for bids: 5pm, 20 September. A second round in spring 2017. Details of qualifying criteria and how to bid can be found here.
The 2016 version of the Practice Guidance Safer Recruitment has been published which updates guidance to parishes on all matters relating to safer recruitment. Find it on the diocesan website safeguarding page here along with a range of relevant forms to help you with safer recruitment.
Leeds DAC are hosting two training sessions, on Health and Safety and Risk Assessment for churchwardens and/or other parish officers next October 11 - one in Knaresborough, one in Pontefract. The sessions will be led by Kevin Thomas from Ecclesiastical Insurance. Find out more here

The Paristamen CIO is a small Yorkshire-based charity which is awarding grants to support the provision of toilets in places of worship and community buildings where there are none. Full details and how to apply. Deadline for bids: 5 September 2016.
