Church leaders meeting in Harrogate have agreed a new scheme for collecting parish share, which will be applied across the diocese from January 2017. The Diocesan Synod also approved a 2% share rise in next year's budget. Support for the Armed Forces Covenant was also on a packed agenda. Full report here
A group of bishops from across Yorkshire have been hearing of the difficulties and uncertainties facing farmers and farming on a visit to  the Great Yorkshire Show.The group, included the Bishop of Ripon, James Bell and the Bishop of Hull, Rt Revd Alison White (pictured) met NFU leaders and charities working with farmers. More here
The team behind the Yorkshire Church on Show exhibition say that this year's pavilion attracted hundreds of visitors each day, with many deep conversations. Interactive displays on the themes of hope and hopelessness including a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle and a tunnel where words and pictures were revealed by infrared torches. From July 14, the diocese is now known solely by its official, legal name, the Diocese of Leeds. A new logo clearly positions us as part of the C of E and can be downloaded for use by parishes.  Read more here
Readers look to future while celebrating 150 years
Last weekend Readers from across the country came together to celebrate the significant contribution they've made to the life of the Church in the last 150 years - with top speakers, worship, amazing activities and bouncy castles. More here.
Social-enterprise coffee house for new offices?
Cielo, a social enterprise coffee house in Leeds, hopes to open another coffee house on the ground floor of the new diocesan offices in York Place, and they're endeavouring to do it through crowd funding. Can you help? More here.

Photo Competition for diocesan office
The diocese is holding a photo competition, and the winners will appear on the walls of the new diocesan office in Leeds. There are three categories (including a children's category) and we're looking for exciting and slightly unusual images. Closing date 30 September.  More here.
Diocesan Retreat in Scarborough
'The Resurrection then and now' - a retreat at Wydale Hall, Scarborough, 29-31 July with former Bishop of Oxford, John Pritchard. Including Bible studies, art, music and prayer. More here.
The Wakefield Mysteries
A new re-telling of the Wakefield Mystery Plays performed by professional actors and local young people in Wakefield Cathedral, 11-20 August. The two-part production from Theatre Royal Wakefield is a gripping look at the bible as well as the city's recent history. More info & booking here.
Five celebration events are taking place this autumn, celebrating church growth in each Episcopal Area. C5 starts at Halifax Minster on 17 September, and Area Bishops will be involved in each event - more here 
'Resourcing churches to engage with primary schools' is a conference for the diocese (Moyes Centre, Leeds), September 17 - helping churches to develop good relations with their local schools. Booking Form & Workshop details now available.
Supporting the bereaved
A 4 week course to help individuals and churches support the bereaved, led by Revd Anne Wood. Begins 27 September, All Saints, Batley. More here.

Areas AROUND THE AREAS
More than 30 parish disability representatives, many of them recently elected at annual parochial church meetings have been learning how churches can better support those with sight loss. The parish reps are part of a network, originally set up twelve years ago in the former Bradford diocese. HUDDERSFIELD
Last Saturday Batley Community Choir released a single to raise money for the Jo Cox Memorial Fund. "The Rose - a version of a Bette Midler song is such a fitting song" explained musical director Gary Skyrme "it's about love and hope and Jo epitomised those values."  Read the full story and find out how to download the song or CD here.
Bishop Nick has helped a Leeds vicar (right) celebrate his 105th birthday and 80 years in ordained ministry. More here.

A new emergency defibrillator has been installed on the wall of St Peter's in the heart of Harrogate town centre - and has already been deployed within days of being placed there. More on this story here  
The grounds of Long Preston Church, near Skipton in North Yorkshire, have had a makeover thanks to an army of volunteers.With support from local businesses, gravel that had been generously donated was transported to the church by locals with tractors and trailers. More here
The Follow Me talks return to Wakefield this autumn. Area Bishop, Rt Revd Tony Robinson, has announced five evening teaching sessions at Wakefield Cathedral for anyone exploring faith and discipleship starting with Bishop John Pritchard on 29 September. More details here

Change the Story
A new campaign from Christian Aid is asking the government to do more to help the 65 million people displaced globally and asks people to write to their local newspapers and help change the story around refugees. More here and here.

You may well have heard of the new mobile phone game sweeping the world - Pokémon Go. Gamers holding mobile phones can be seen wandering around towns and sometimes entering churches. Why? And what should the church be doing? Here is our useful guide to the game, the dangers and the opportunities.
