The diocese has welcomed its two new archdeacons at a service at Ripon Cathedral. The Ven. Beverley Mason, formerly vicar of All Saints in Bingley, was collated as the Archdeacon of Richmond & Craven and the Ven. Dr. Andrew Jolley as the Archdeacon of Bradford. More here

With a new emphasis on vocations, comes a new job title for the Revd Canon Derek Walmsley, the new Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Vocations (DDOV). Derek, previously Vicar of Utley nr Keighley, will be seeking to implement a radical national report calling for an increase of 50% in ordinations. Read more here

More than a hundred delegates, some from as far afield as Bristol and Derby, have taken part in a diocesan conference on growing rural churches. Led by Bishop James Bell, the day in Harrogate attracted participants from every area of the diocese. Find out more here.

Traditional longsword dancers welcomed hundreds of visitors from across the diocese to the Plough Sunday service at Ripon Cathedral. A tractor and plough stood outside as prayers were said for the farming community. More here on the service

 Bishop Nick led a debate in the House of Lords this week on the recent floods. He asked the government how they intend to review their long term strategy for flood management, particularly in rural areas that do not qualify for large-scale flood defences. More here.

February 10, Ash Wednesday, marks the start of Lent. 'Confident, Growing, Changing' is a diocesan Lent Course soon to be received by every church and available to download.
