As up to 80,000 young people descend on Bramham Park nr Leeds this weekend for the Leeds Festival, church volunteers will be providing practical support, advice, help and prayer. A team of 'Festival Angels' will be led by local vicar, Andy Nicholson - find out more here - and visit the Festival Angels website here

Church in the Dales is taking welfare and worship to the towns and villages of Wensleydale with the launch of a new exhibition trailer. Church About the Dale will provide support and advice on debt, isolation, poverty, farming and community involvement with a focus on worship and welfare at a series of gatherings this week. The diocese could break new ground this September if elections are required for General Synod. Technology will play a part as, for the first time, lay and clergy candidates could be quizzed on the internet about what they stand for . More on this story here

A video has just been published by young people from across the diocese, describing their moving experiences of a visit to the link diocese of Tanzania. The group of nine youngsters travelled to Mara where they were joined by Pontefract vicar, Revd Canon Bob Cooper. Read about their experiences and watch the video here.

The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord George Carey, will be speaking in Harrogate on Thursday 10 September at the launch of the Harrogate Hub, a church social project which aims to develop a new town centre premises to help churches meet acute and often hidden social needs more effectively. The CofE's first Rural Officer, Canon Jeremy Martineau, who led the Archbishop's Commission on Rural Areas, will be giving a keynote lecture on rural mission at the next St Wilfrid Lecture in Ripon Cathedral on September 17 at 7.30pm. More here

An intrepid inter-faith group of 35 Christian and Muslim men, women and children from the Bradford area have raised £10,000 by completed a gruelling walk up Snowdon in North Wales. The 'Snowdon Challenge' which took place in torrential rain and with 60mph winds raised money for regular meals for the homeless - find out what happened

Gen Verde, a group of 21 female musicians and performing artists from 13 different countries, will be leading a workshop for young people and performing a concert at Ripon Cathedral this October. The band's inspiring work promotes peace and dialogue. Find out more here

 Barnsley priest, Fr Darren Percival plans to zip-wire across the Tyne on 19 September to raise funds for the Barnsley Deanery Homelessness Fund - and he's scared!
