      Has anyone been hankering for another Friday night bash at Urban Yarns Point Grey? Well we have! This time we will be celebrating local artisan Kristan MacIntyre's genius knitting jewelry: stitch marker necklaces and stacking stitch marker rings, hand-made copper and silver darning needles and fix-it hooks, one-of-a-kind shawl pins, and more! We couldn't decide which "yarn pairing" to display alongside Kristan's work, so we will also be having a full New Yarns Showcase. See details below!

  • Woolstok by Blue Sky Fibers (the upgraded name of Blue Sky Alpacas), brand new to the world this summer! All 21 colours and a big bundle of patterns arrived at Urban Yarns today and will be available in-store and online early next week
  • Meadow by The Fibre Company, new-to-Urban-Yarns and already available in-store and online!
  • A full restock of Madelinetosh Tosh DK including many new 2016 colourways. Already available in-store and online!
  • The entire inventory of local dyer-on-hiatus Molly Hutt, a.k.a. Ancient Yarnstory. These yarns will be available for purchase at Urban Yarns at this event and a few days following ONLY. You don't want to miss these unique and playful small-batch colours on high quality bases
  • Teaser demo garments made of yarns that will be arriving at Urban Yarns throughout August and September. We will be accepting pre-orders for many of these including a full restock of Jade Sapphire 100% cashmere

Knit City 2016

       Urban Yarns will be back in full force at the 5th annual Knit City expo this fall, with a large sales booth and much more! If you have never been, this is a must for knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, dyers, and fibre artists throughout BC, Alberta, and Washington State to make the trek. Join us October 1-2, 2016 at the PNE Forum, Vancouver BC, for all of the following:
  • Introducing The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze to BC: colour like you've never seen! The former head dyer for Koigu now designs and hand-dyes his own merino lines in Ontario, and they are already being stocked by yarn stores around the globe! We will have dozens of colourways of his fingering-weight Peppino line available for purchase, and Rhichard himself will be at the Urban Yarns booth all weekend for meet & greets and to share his infectious passion for colour, craftsmanship, and quality.
  • Our entire array of Addi and Knitter's Pride needles available for purchase individually or as sets.
  • Notions galore including swifts and ball winders, blocking tools, stitch markers, Firefly Notes handcrafted notions tins, Gleener: The Ultimate Depiller, Soak Wash...we are bringing the notions section of our Point Grey store to you!
  • Book signing by designer Kate Atherley, author of Custom Socks: Knit to Fit Your Feet and Beginner's Guide to Writing Knitting Patterns at the Urban Yarns booth on Saturday from 12:45-1:15pm only. Copies of these books will be available for purchase beforehand and throughout the show.
  • Sit and knit a few rows on a variety of needle styles and materials at the Urban Yarns Needle Buffet, in the Demo Area of the marketplace on Saturday from 11:00-11:55am
  • Free wet blocking demonstration by Urban Yarns instructor Alison Holley in the Demo Area of the marketplace on Saturday from 3:30-4:30pm
  • Last but not least, the plethora of other vendors and activities that Knit City has to offer: see the full schedule of classes, lectures, and demos here
A note about the Canada Post labour dispute: 

The timelines for a potential lockout or strike are changing daily at the moment, but Urban Yarns will continue to fulfill online and phone orders by the most secure shipping methods available.

If you place an order that is under $125 CAD, you will be contacted within 48 hours by phone or email by one of our staff to discuss private courier options and costs versus holding your order until it can be delivered by Canada Post uninterrupted. 

If you place an order that is over $125 CAD, Urban Yarns will send your package by private courier free of charge within reasonable cost limits. If the quote to courier your order is higher than we can cover in its entirety, you will be contacted within 48 hours by phone or email by one of our staff to discuss cost-sharing options for private courier versus holding your order until it can be delivered by Canada Post uninterrupted. 

If you live within driving distance of Urban Yarns Point Grey in Vancouver BC, keep in mind that any size of phone or online order may be picked up in-store free of charge.
