Happy New Year!

Hopefully you've managed to survive the holiday season and have come away with enough new yarn (or gift cards) to keep you busy... at least for a little while.

Cheers from all of us at Urban Yarns!

ZEALANA

While we've survived the first few cold snaps of the season here in Vancouver, many of our loyal knitters are doing their best not to freeze this winter.

Left to right (and heaviest to lightest): Heron, Kauri, Rimu DK, Rimu Fingering, Kiwi, Air

One of our favourite cure for the winter chills? Zealana yarn. Zealana offers a range of possum blend yarns, with everything from merino to cashmere to silk mixed in. Possum is such a great winter yarn because the hollow, cone-shaped structure of the fibres trap air and provide especially good insulation (plus these yarns are almost all machine washable, and wear like a dream).

My recommendation? Zealana Air - possum, cashmere and mulberry silk, oh my!

Soft to the touch, even the hardest working yarns feel like a luxury, and the luxury blends are just decadent! Do yourself a favour and treat yourself with some of this unique yarn.

We might be slightly spoiled for choice...

LOTHLORIAN
Speaking of the wonders of possum blend yarns, we still stock a selection of pret-a-porter products from Lothlorian. Two years ago I gave a hat and mitten set to friend who was moving to Yellowknife, and so far they have kept her warm through two (and a half) Northern winters, so you know they're the real deal.

CLASSES

We've got a fantastic lineup of classes for you this winter. Most of them won't be starting until the second week of January, so there's still time to sign up!

Whether you're looking for advanced techniques, general skills, kids classes, one-on-one instruction, or custom group lessons, we've got it covered. All the information you need to register can be found on our Classes page.

And of course we would love to hear feedback from you about what classes you'd like to see offered! So if you've got something you're itching to learn and think other people would be interested, let us know!
