Reducing Paper Usage
It is no wonder we are overwhelmed with managing paper in our daily lives. Every year, American households receive a total of 104.7 billion pieces of junk mail, or 848 pieces. If you are ready to reduce your consumption of paper, here are a few tips to get you started.
1. Choose paperless options whenever possible. You can do this for banking, utilities, investments, and credit card statements.
2. Scan those papers that must be kept. Digitizing your files will eliminate those piles of paper and reduce your file cabinet needs.
3. Cancel physical subscriptions to magazines and newspapers and get your up to date information on line.
Once you have eliminated the need for these papers, don't forget to shred old files of a sensitive nature. Doing a little housekeeping of your paper files often results in a great amount of unneeded paper that was once deemed necessary. Purge often to keep your paper documents volume down.
