Less is More
Why is less better? Less stuff equals more time. With less things around the house, it is easier to clean, organize and keep together. With less stuff your house looks uncluttered and cleaner. If this resonates with you, then you are ready to simplify, pare down, and focus on what is truly important in life. When we reduce what we own and essentially detox our house, it makes us feel good. Here are a few tips to get you started.
1. Pretend that you are moving. If you were moving, what would you take with you? Do you really need all those books, extra kitchen ware and utensils? Focus on those things that bring you happiness. Evaluate what you truly need and eliminate the rest.
2. One in and one out rule. If something new comes in the house, something old has to go out. It can be applied to everything like shoes, clothes, toys, furniture, etc. This rule is pivotal to maintaining the simple, clutter-free existence you've worked so hard to achieve.
3. Start Simple. Pick one room, one closet or perhaps one surface area. Set yourself a time to accomplish the complete task at hand and then honor that area by keeping it clutter-free. Remember, it took several years to get to its current state. Be patient and celebrate small successes.
