Convict Lake Fishing Report                             August 10, 2013
Greetings!

Hello Convict Lake fishing report followers!

First off, a huge thank you goes out to the firefighters who have been working on the Aspen fire.

It's at 85% containment and the smoke is no longer a major issue on the east side. Summer will be over before you realize it.  Don't miss out on the long daylight hours and the prime fishing. Stop by the general store to get up-to-date information on what is working out on the lake and at the creek.

Header Photo: The Gail Family with an excellent 6 pound and 13 ounce stringer. They were using night crawlers and fishing at Hangman's Tree when they landed their 14 fish stringer.

Catch of the Week: Brooke Hill from Upland, CA with a great catch from Convict Lake. Brooke was using Gulp Cheese/Garlic Powerbait and was posted up on the South Shore when she landed this beautiful 3 pound and 6 ounce rainbow. Great job Brooke! The photo of the fish below.

Other Notable catches this week:

Kevin from Van Nuys, CA landed a nice 2 pound 9 ounce rainbow. Kevin was using Power Bait Turbo and was fishing at Hangman's Tree.

Craig Finney of Long Beach, CA hooked a beautiful 2 pound rainbow. Craig was using Orange Powerbait and was fishing at the South Shore.

Tactics/Bait:  The most successful Powerbait colors were rainbow, orange and cheese. Choosing garlic Powerbait is always a wise decision. The largest fish this week was caught with garlic Powerbait.  Red/gold or Blue/Silver Thomas Bouyants, Rooster Tails and Gulp Pinch Crawlers are typically very productive in the lake. Convict Creek also fished well this week. It may have been stocked but I didn't get any official word if this was true. Try using Mice Tails, Power Worms or Sierra Slammers in the creek. Hangman's Tree and the South Shore were the new hot spot this week. Other locations to try are the Inlet, North Shore, Jetty, Outlet, West Shore, Creek, Handicap Pier and Hangman's Tree.

Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Trout Teasers, green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Panther Martin, NeedleFish, Thomas Bouyants, Green Wooly Booger and Lip RIpperz Hatchery Dust on Powerbait.
