OCF Chairman and State Senator Bill Beagle
State Senator Bill Beagle
is a proud father of three who is serving his first term in the Ohio Senate, representing all or part of Darke, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties. The Ohio Senate president appointed him to serve on the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood (OCF) in 2011, and in 2012, he was elected chairman. However, Senator Beagle has been passionate about fatherhood since long before that. A former stay-at-home dad, he once founded a stay-at-home dad's group in the Dayton area. We asked him to share his thoughts about fatherhood, and his devotion to his children and to OCF came through loud and clear. To read his responses, click here>>> |
Responsible Fatherhood Month at a Glance
The Ohio Commission on Fatherhood co-sponsored more than 25 high-visibility fatherhood celebrations and responsible fatherhood campaigns throughout Ohio in June, which Gov. Kasich declared to be "Responsible Fatherhood Month."These celebrations were hosted by community-based agencies and organizations, and they reached urban, suburban and rural areas.
More than 4,500 fathers and more than 8,000 children attended these events, learned about the importance of fathers and, in some cases, received services. The events were such a success that the commission already is planning for the June 2015 Responsible Fatherhood Month. To read more about the June 2014 events click here>>> |
Meet Our Intern:
Ellis Williams
OCF was fortunate to have had an excellent intern over the summer. Ellis Williams was a Columbus native and 2013 graduate of Columbus South High School. While in high school, he was an honor student, earned an Eagle Scout ranking and became a prominent basketball player with a bright future. Ellis' hard work and dedication in the classroom and on the court earned him a full basketball scholarship to Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He recently left us to start his sophomore year.
Ellis was a tremendous help to us over the summer, and we will truly miss his contributions. We wish him the best of luck both on and off the court. |
